Reolink SyncTrack and Auto Framing are smart features that improve target tracking and detail visibility on some OMVI Series cameras. This article explains how to achieve this purpose, along with features compatibility and configuration steps.

What is the SyncTrack and Auto Framing Feature on Reolink Cameras

Reolink SyncTrack and Auto Framing are intelligent tracking features available on some OMVI Series cameras, which combine an upper panoramic cam and a lower PT cam. SyncTrack focuses on continuous tracking with full panoramic monitoring without losing the target, while Auto Framing ensures targets remain clearly visible with optimized framing.

1. SyncTrack

SyncTrack is a collaborative tracking feature that allows the upper panoramic cam and the lower PT cam to work together within a multiple-lens architecture. The upper panoramic cam keeps watching the whole scene, while the lower PT cam tracks people, vehicles, or animals in real time. Even if the target moves out of the panoramic view, the PT lens can continue tracking it. In other words, when a person, vehicle, or animal enters the panoramic lens’s wide-angle view, the lower PT cam automatically focuses on and tracks the target—even if they leave the wide-angle view. Both views are displayed simultaneously as well on the Reolink App.

2. Auto Framing

Auto Framing is an intelligent zoom-and-track feature. When it is enabled, the lower PT cam'll automatically zoom in and adjust the view when a target object is detected, making people, vehicles, or animals appear larger and clearer. This helps provide more detailed target views without requiring manual zoom adjustment.

3. How They Work Together

Both features work through AI-based detection and real-time coordination between the upper panoramic cam and lower PT cam. The upper panoramic cam continuously monitors the full 180° scene and detects targets, while the AI algorithms calculate their position and motion in real time. The lower PT cam then responds by tracking the target (SyncTrack) and adjusting zoom or framing (Auto Framing) accordingly.

When SyncTrack and Auto Framing work together, they deliver a complete monitoring experience:

  • The upper panoramic cam continues to provide a full panoramic view.
  • The lower PT cam continuously tracks moving targets.
  • Auto Framing enhances target clarity with intelligent zoom and framing.

This combination enables wide-area coverage, uninterrupted tracking, and detailed close-up viewing simultaneously, providing a more comprehensive and intelligent surveillance experience.

What Reolink Models are Supported

1. SyncTrack

The following cameras and NVRs support SyncTrack:
✔ Supported Cameras (Standalone Use with the latest firmware):
Reolink OMVI Series: OMVI 3i PoE

When the above supported camera is added to a compatible NVR, you can still use the SyncTrack feature.
✔ Supported NVRs (with the latest firmware Fw. v3.6.4 or later):
RLN8-410 / NVS8 (Hardware version: N7MB01 / NVR_NNT3NA78P)
RLN16-410 / NVS16 (Hardware version: N6MB01 / NVR_NNT4NA716P)
RLN12W / NVS12W
RLN36 / NVS36
RP-PN8 / RP-PN16
Note: If SyncTrack does not appear on your Reolink NVR, make sure your NVR's hardware is compatible as listed above, and refer to Reolink Firmware Update Guide to upgrade to the latest firmware version.

2. Auto Framing

Auto Framing is supported only in standalone use and is not available now when the camera is connected to an NVR. The following cameras support Auto Framing:

✔ Supported Cameras (with the latest firmware):
Reolink OMVI Series: OMVI 3i PoE
Note: If you cannot find the Auto Framing feature in the Reolink App, update the camera firmware to the latest version by following Reolink Firmware Update Guide.

How to Set Up SyncTrack and Auto Framing on Reolink Cameras

The SyncTrack feature is available on the Reolink App and Reolink NVR (monitor connected), while the Auto Framing feature is available on the Reolink App ONLY. Neither feature is available on the Reolink Client or web interface now. Before setting up both features, ensure your Reolink App is updated to the latest version(version 4.60 or later)

  • Via Reolink App

    1. Enable/Disable SyncTrack and Auto Framing

Log in to your device on the Reolink App and then tap setting icon > SyncTrack to enable these features.

home page  setting pageEnable/Disable SyncTrack and Auto Framing  switch to player to fullscreen mode

Note: When enabling Auto Framing, you need to switch the Reolink App to Fullscreen mode. If the App is in Classic Player mode currently, follow the on-screen guide to switch to Fullscreen mode, then tap Enable to continue. If you're interested in finding out more about video player mode, refer to Introduction to Reolink Default Video Player.

    2. Set up Tracking Type

Tap Tracking Type to choose what to track: PersonVehicle, or Animal (options may vary by model), and tap Save.

Cameras with Tracking Priority allow you to set the tracking order by dragging the Tracking Priority toggle icon. When multiple moving objects are detected, the camera tracks them sequentially according to the set priority order. For example, if a person, vehicle, and animal are moving, the camera will first track the vehicle, then the person, and finally the animal once the previous objects disappear.
