Installation Overview and Tips
The Reolink OMVI 3i PoE camera supports three installation options: wall mount, ceiling mount, and corner mounting, along with flexible cable routing methods, as shown in the images below. Select an installation option and cable routing method based on your scenario.
Note: The corner bracket RLA-BKC1 V2.0 needs to be purchased separately while corner mounting.
Tips 1. Disconnect the Ethernet Cable Before Installation
For easier installation, it is recommended to disconnect the camera’s Ethernet cable before starting. Reconnect them according to the instructions during installation. And keep the LAN port and power port protected from water, moisture, dirt, and debris.
Tips 2. Choose a Proper Mounting Location and Positioning
Height: The recommended mounting height is 2.5–3.5 m (8–11 ft), which helps ensure accurate motion detection and a wider field of view.
Positioning: Avoid pointing the camera directly at light sources, windows, or heavily shaded areas, as glare or poor lighting conditions may affect image quality; instead, aim the camera toward a well-lit area.
● Wall Mount — Position the camera to face directly forward, centering the monitored area. Avoid angling the camera too far to either side, as capturing excessive wall surface in the frame can cause glare.
● Ceiling Mount — Install the camera as close to the edge as possible to minimize ceiling reflection and blind spots.
● Corner mounting — For best results, we recommend using a corner bracket RLA-BKC1 V2.0.
Installation Steps
Step 1. Secure the Mounting Bracket
The mounting bracket has two sides: the wider side should be secured to the wall, while the narrower side should be secured to the ceiling. During installation, select a mounting option based on your scenario and make sure the mounting bracket is oriented correctly before tightening the screws.
Option 1. Wall Mounting
Using the “Wall” section on the mounting template as a guide, mark 4 drilling points with a pencil and drill holes into the wall with a power drill. The use included long screws to secure the mounting bracket to the wall. (Use the included drywall anchors if needed.)
Option 2. Ceiling Mounting
Using the “Ceiling” section on the mounting template as a guide, mark 4 drilling points with a pencil and drill holes into the ceiling with a power drill. The use included long screws to secure the mounting bracket to the ceiling. (Use the included drywall anchors if needed.)
Option 3. Corner Mounting
The corner mounting bracket RLA-BKC1 V2.0 is not included in the camera package. If you prefer corner mounting, you need to purchase it separately.
❶ Select a wall corner that can support the combined weight of the bracket and camera. With the “▲UP” mark facing upward, hold the corner bracket against the corner, mark the drilling points with a pencil, and drill the holes. Use the four screws included in the corner bracket package to secure the corner bracket to the wall corner.
❷ Locate the four Pattern-F holes on the corner bracket. Align the “Wall” side of the mounting bracket with these Pattern-F holes (ensure correct orientation, as shown in the figure below), and then secure the mounting bracket to the corner bracket using four screws.
For more information about corner mounting, refer to Reolink RLA-BKC1 Corner Mounting Bracket: Installation Guide and Compatibility.
Step 2. Connect the Waterproof Cap Kit and Ethernet Cable
Hang the camera on the mounting bracket and connect the waterproof cap kit (as shown below) and Ethernet cable.
Waterproof Cap Kit Connection:
❶ Route the Ethernet cable through the components in this order: A, B, C, then D. B is a split rubber seal that allows side-entry installation over the Ethernet cable.
❷ Insert the Ethernet cable into the camera's PoE connector.
❸ Attach component D to the camera's PoE connector and twist to lock it in place.
❹ First insert C into D, then firmly press B into D, and finally screw A into D. Do not overtighten, as this may push B and C out of position.
After connecting, wait for the indicator light on the lens to turn solid blue.
Step 3. Secure the Camera
❶ Align the camera with the mounting bracket, slide it into place (see the red circle below).
❷ Tighten the screws with a PH screwdriver on both sides to secure it.
Step 4. Adjust the Camera Angles
After installing the camera, adjust the upper panoramic cam and the lower PT cam, and manually tilt the lenses to your preferred angle to ensure the best field of view. For the lower PT cam, it can also be remotely controlled through the Reolink App, Client, or NVR.
By following this installation guide, you'll set up your camera securely and safely, ensuring reliable protection and performance for years to come.
