UID allows remote access to your Reolink device through the Reolink App and Client. This article explains when UID is required and how to enable or disable it on different Reolink devices.

Applies to: All Reolink devices except for the battery-powered cameras and the add-on cameras in the NVR kit.

UID (Unique ID) is a unique identifier assigned to every supported Reolink device. It enables secure remote access through the Reolink App and Client without requiring port forwarding.

If you want to access your device remotely, add it using its UID or QR code, or troubleshoot remote connection issues, make sure UID is enabled.

When Should You Enable UID?

Enable UID if you want to:

If you only access the device on your local network and don't need remote access, you may choose to disable UID (if supported).

Before You Start

Before enabling UID, please note the following:

  • Battery-powered cameras always use UID for remote access. The UID option is not available and cannot be disabled.
  • Add-on cameras included in NVR Kits do not have individual UIDs. Only the NVR has a UID. So they should work with the NVR for remote access.
  • Some NVR models support enabling or disabling UID directly in the Reolink App. If the UID option is unavailable in the app, use the Reolink Client, web interface, or the NVR's local interface instead.
  • UID is enabled by default on all supported Reolink devices except NVRs. If you want to add an NVR using its UID or QR code for remote access, make sure UID is enabled on the NVR first.
  • Your UID does not contain your password or personal information. Access to your device still requires the correct login credentials.
  • UID communication uses P2P technology and random UDP ports. If remote access does not work, ensure all UDP ports of your network are enabled.
  • If you only access the device on your local network and don't need remote access, you may choose to disable UID (if supported).
  • Complete the initial setup or add your device to the Reolink software before enabling UID. Once the device is successfully added, follow the steps below to enable UID if needed.
