Symptoms for Reolink Camera Keeps Disconnecting

Reolink connection failed Wi-Fi when one of the following condition is met.
1. Reolink camera keeps disconnecting randomly, making it inaccessible when disconnected.

2. For models equipped with a status LED: the battery-powered Wi-Fi camera indicates disconnection by changing its LED from blue to red, whereas the E1 series/Lumus models change from a solid blue to a blinking blue LED.
Refer to Introduction to the Working Modes and the Status LED of Battery-powered WiFi Cameras

3. Auto-reboot: For PTZ cameras, frequent automatic PT rotations may occur. In cases where continuous recording is enabled, gaps can be observed in the playback bar. (mainly for DC-powered Wi-Fi cameras)

Troubleshooting Steps for Reolink Camera Wi-Fi Disconnected

  • Check the Camera

    1. Kindly inspect the power supply for the camera. (mainly for DC-powered Wi-Fi cameras)

Make sure you're using the original power adapter to power the camera.
If you've connected a power extension cable, try disconnecting it to see if this improves the thing.

Note: If the device is a doorbell: the power adapter should be 24V DC or 12-24V AC. Or the transformer should be 16V AC, 50/60 Hz, 30 VA. When the doorbell is powered by the existing wiring, it is recommended to connect a jumper wire.

    2. Check camera antenna. (skip if there's no antenna)

For cameras with antenna, ensure that the antenna is installed correctly and securely tightened.

    3. Move the camera closer to the router or swap its position with other devices if necessary.

The Wi-Fi signal strength significantly impacts the connection between the router and the Reolink device. Reolink camera keeps disconnecting if the signal is too weak. Consider relocating the camera closer to the router, placing it in a position with better signal reception, or using a signal amplifier to enhance the signal strength.

    4. Reboot the camera and the router for a try.

If possible, it's recommended to reset the router (rather than just rebooting it) for a try.

    5. Update to the latest firmware version.

Updating the firmware of your Reolink camera is crucial to ensure optimal performance and security. This step is essential and can also help optimize the Wi-Fi connection further.
So if possible, please review the following instructions to see if they help optimize the situation for you. Reolink Firmware Update Guide

    6. Try to disable the Auto Reboot feature in the camera settings. (applies exclusively to DC-powered Wi-Fi cameras)

If the camera Wi-Fi disconnection issue occurs at regular intervals, for example, the camera disconnects at 2am every Sunday, you may consider turning off the Auto Reboot feature on the camera settings page for a check.
You may refer to How to Set up Auto Reboot for Reolink Cameras/NVRs
Disable the auto-reboot feature within third-party software, NVR, or NAS if the camera is integrated with any of these systems.

  • Check the Router

    1. Ensure that the Wi-Fi/router configuration meets the specified requirements.

You may refer to the below article to check the details, such as frequency band, encryption method, channel, etc.

    2. Attempt to disable the Auto Reboot feature on the router settings page.

Note: If you encounter any issues while changing the router settings, please contact your router provider for assistance.

    3. Try connecting the camera to a different router's Wi-Fi or use your phone's hotspot to test.

    • For Wi-Fi cameras with an Ethernet port, consider switching to a wired connection to see if this resolves the issue.
    • For Wi-Fi cameras that do not have an Ethernet port, you may connect to a phone's hotspot or try to connect to another router for a test.

If multiple cameras are in use and only one has issues, or if a camera stops working after some time, it’s recommended to reset the camera and reconfigure it. Follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned above. If the problem persists, please contact Support as soon as possible, providing the following information for further guidance:
