For Reolink Video Doorbell cameras, they can alert you when the camera is triggered by a Visitor (someone presses the doorbell button). You can customize alerts based on your schedule. Below, you’ll find different methods to set up Visitor alerts.

Applies to: Reolink Video Doorbell PoE, D340P, Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi, D340W, Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery), D340B.

Important Notes:

1. If you encounter any setup issues, please check that your doorbell camera's firmware is updated to the latest version and ensure that your app and client are updated as well. Reolink Firmware Update Guide

2. If the camera is connected to an NVR, please also check if the NVR firmware is updated to the latest version.

Step-by-Step Guide to Set up Visitor Alerts for Reolink Video Doorbell Cameras

  • Via Reolink App

    Please install the latest Reolink App on your phone in advance.

    1. Setting up Visitor Push Notifications.

    Step 1. Launch Reolink App and log in to your camera. Tap the gear icon to enter the Device Settings page. Tap Push Notifications to enter the push settings page.

    Step 2. Switch ON the Push Notifications button. Then tap Schedule.

    Step 3. Tap Detection Type, select Ring and tap Save. Make other alarm types (Person/Any Motion) stays grey(if you do not need it). Then tap the bar of the day (for example, Sunday) to set up a push schedule.

    Step 4. Tap on the grid (each one stands for one hour of 24 hours) to tick Enable/Disable

    • The blue grid means you will receive push notifications during that hour when someone presses the doorbell button. Grey means none.
    • If you want to copy such settings to other days, just tap on the corresponding day button to make it blue-framed.

    Step 5. Go back to the Push Schedule page and tap Save to save the settings.

    2. Setting up Visitor Email Alerts.

    Step 1. Launch Reolink App and log in to your camera. Tap the gear icon to enter the Device Settings page. Tap Email Alerts.

    Step 2. Enable Email Alerts. If you haven't done the email settings such as the recipient address, refer to the email settings part in How to Set up Email Notifications via Reolink App. Then tap Schedule.

    Step 3. Tap Detection Type, select Ring and tap Save. Make other alarm types (Person/Any Motion) stays grey if they don't need to be detected. Then tap the bar of the day (for example, Sunday) to set up an email schedule.

    Step 4. Tap on the grid (each one stands for one hour of 24 hours) to tick Enable/Disable.

    • The blue grid means you will receive email alerts when people press the doorbell button during that hour. Grey means none.
    • If you want to copy such settings to other days, just tap on the corresponding day button to make it blue-framed.

    Note: Make sure all the grids on the timetable of the Timer are grey if you don't want to receive a timer email according to the set email interval.

    Step 5. Go back to the Email Schedule page and tap Save to save the settings.

    Done! Now you will only get alerted when someone is actually pressing the doorbell button. If you still want to get alerted when the camera detects the motions of a person or any other objects, please select Person/Any Motion accordingly when you set up the schedule for push/email/camera recording.

  • Via Reolink Client

    Download and install the latest Reolink Client on your PC in advance. 

    1. Setting up Visitor Push Notifications.

    Step 1. Launch Reolink Client and log in to your camera. Click the gear icon to enter the Device Settings page.

    • Tick Visitor among the alarm types.
    • Left-click Enable/Disable and then click on the weekly timetable (a grid stands for one hour).
    • Blue means you will receive a Visitor push notification once the camera detects a visitor in that hour. Grey means disabled. For example, the schedule below means you will receive push notifications on your phone on weekdays that someone presses the doorbell.
    • Scroll down and click Save to save the settings.

    2. Setting up Visitor Alarm Email.

    Step 1. Launch Reolink Client and log in to your camera. Click the gear icon to enter the Device Settings page.

    Step 2. Go to Surveillance > Email > Schedule.

    • Enable Email Alerts first or you won't receive any email alerts.
    • Finish the crucial email settings. You can refer to the email settings part in How to Set up Email via Reolink Client.
    • Select Alarm under Schedule. Tick Visitor among the alarm types.
    • Left-click Enable/Disable and then click on the weekly timetable (a grid stands for one hour). Blue means you will receive a Visitor email once the camera detects a visitor in that hour. Grey means disabled.
    • Make sure all the grids on the timetable of the Timer are grey if you don't want to receive a timer email according to the set email interval.
    • Scroll down the page and click Save to save all the settings.

    Done! Now you will only get alerted when someone is actually pressing the doorbell button. If you still want to get alerted when the camera detects the motions of a person or any other objects, please select Person/Vehicle/Others accordingly when you set up the schedule for push/email/camera recording.

  • Via Reolink Web browser

    Applies to: Reolink Video Doorbell PoE, Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi

    Step 1. Make sure your PC is connected to the same router as your camera.

    Step 2. Input the IP Address of your camera on a web browser and log in to your camera.

    Step 3. Click the Device Settings gear icon on the top right corner.

    • Check Visitor only among all the alarm types.
    • Left-click Enable/Disable and then click on the weekly timetable (a grid stands for one hour).
    • Blue means you will receive a Visitor push notification once the camera detects a visitor in that hour. Grey means disabled. For example, the schedule below means you will receive push notifications on your phone on weekdays that someone presses the doorbell.

  • Via Reolink NVR (new UI)

    Applies to: Reolink Video Doorbell PoE, Reolink Video Doorbell WiFi, Reolink Doorbell Battery, RLN8-410, RLN16-410 and RLN36, RLN12W

    Before setting it up, please check if your NVR could work with Reolink Video Doorbell cameras.

    1. Setting up Visitor Push Notifications.

    Step 1. Log in to your camera on the NVR monitor, enter the live-view page, and then click the Settings gear icon.

    Step 2. Go to Surveillance > Push Notifications. First, you need to turn on the Push Notifications for the NVR. Then click Daily Schedule.

    Note: If you don't enable this button, all cameras connected to the NVR will be unable to send push notifications.

    Step 3. Set up the push schedule.

    • Select the channel of your doorbell camera. Enable Push for this camera.
    • Check Visitor only among all the alarm types.
    • Click the grids on the weekly timetable (a grid stands for one hour). Blue means you will receive a Visitor push notification once the camera detects a visitor in that hour. Grey means disabled. For example, the schedule below means you will receive push notifications on your phone on weekdays when someone presses the doorbell.

    2. Setting up Visitor Email Notifications.

    Step 1. Log in to your camera on the NVR monitor, enter the live-view page, and then click the Settings gear icon.

    Step 2. Go to Surveillance > Email Alerts. First, you need to turn on the button for email alerts of the NVR. Then click Daily Schedule.

    Note: If you don't enable this button, all cameras connected to the NVR will be unable to send email alerts.

    Step 3. Set up the push schedule.

    • Select the channel of your doorbell camera. Click the button to enable email alerts for this camera.
    • Tick Visitor only among all the alarm types.
    • Click the grids on the weekly timetable (a grid stands for one hour). Blue means you will receive a Visitor alarm email once the camera detects a visitor at that hour. Grey means disabled. For example, the schedule below means you will receive alarm emails on weekdays when someone presses the doorbell.

If you still want to get alerted when the camera detects the motions of a person or any other objects, please select Person/Any Motion accordingly when you set up the schedule for push/email/camera recording.
