If you encounter difficulties with powering or connecting the camera, this article provides practical recommendations to help ensure proper setup and optimal operation for both models.

1. Initial Setup Tips

  • Reolink Duo Floodlight WiFi (Hardwired)

During the first-time setup, power the camera using a 5V/2A DC adapter with the included DC power cable and connect it directly to your router via the included Ethernet cable. If you have difficulty initializing the camera via the Reolink App, we recommend trying the Reolink Client on a computer.

For detailed setup instructions, refer to: How to Initially Set up Reolink WiFi Cameras (With LAN Port and without Voice Prompt).

If you continue to use the DC adapter after the initial setup, you may notice that some features, such as the two-way audio button, are unavailable. To enable full functionality, simply switch to AC power once the setup is complete.

  • Reolink Elite Floodlight WiFi and TrackFlex Floodlight WiFi

During the first-time setup, power the camera using a 5V/2A DC adapter with the included Type-C power cable. For detailed setup instructions, refer to: How to Configure Wi-Fi Connection for Reolink Cameras via Bluetooth.

If you continue to use the DC adapter after the initial setup, you may notice that some features, such as the two-way audio button, are unavailable. To enable full functionality, simply switch to AC power once the setup is complete.

2. AC Power Usage Tips

Basic AC Wiring Safety Guidelines

To ensure safe and effective operation when switching to AC power, please follow these guidelines:

  • Make sure all wires are correctly and securely connected.
  • If you are using an AC plug connector, wrap the connections with electrical tape to ensure insulation and safety.
  • Ensure the AC power supply delivers a stable voltage and current.

Regional Differences in AC Wire Color

Wire colors for live, neutral, and ground may vary by country or region, so please follow the wiring conventions used in your area.

  • For North America, connect the live wire (black), neutral wire (white), and earth wire (yellow-green) from the junction box to the matching wires on the camera.

     Connect the wires-US

  • For EU/UK/AU, connect the live wire (brown), neutral wire (blue), and earth wire (yellow-green) from the junction box to the matching wires on the camera.

Check if the Camera Is Receiving Power

To confirm that the camera is receiving power, place it in a completely dark environment or cover the two lenses with your hand to check whether the IR LEDs turn on. If the IR lights activate, the camera is powered correctly.

3. Camera Fails to Connect at Final Installation Site

In some cases, the camera may connect to Wi-Fi successfully during indoor setup, but fail to connect once installed in its final outdoor location. If the IR lights still turn on, it means the camera is receiving power, but may be experiencing network issues.

Here are some suggestions to address this:

  • Ensure the installation location has a strong and stable Wi-Fi signal. Weak signal strength may prevent automatic reconnection.
  • Try moving the camera closer to the router or access point. Avoid placing the camera where there are multiple concrete walls or large obstacles in between.
  • Verify that your mobile phone or PC has a working internet connection. You can also try using another phone or device to connect to the camera.

Ensuring a stable power supply and strong Wi-Fi coverage at the installation site is key to the proper functioning of the Reolink AC-powered cameras. Following the setup and installation suggestions above will help you get the best performance from your device.
