1. What Are Smart Detection Alerts

Smart Detection Alerts includes warnings and features triggered by AI-powered detection, such as Push Notifications, Email, Siren, Motion Recording, and FTP Uploading. These features enable individual settings for alarm schedules and detection types, including person, vehicle, pet/animal, and package detection. The available options in the Schedule settings depend on the camera’s enabled detection type. For details, please refer to Introduction to Reolink Smart Detection.

2. When to Use Smart Detection Alerts

To receive alerts for specific objects, you can configure the alarm schedule accordingly. If all footage is marked with a three-overlapping-circle icon, or if all the push notifications and email alerts start with 'Motion Alert', the camera is triggering alerts for any motion without distinguishing between objects. To reduce false alarms, you can set up alerts for person, vehicle, or animal detection.

3. How to Set Up Smart Detection Alerts

Below is an overview of configuring smart detection alerts on different software. Learn how to set up and customize alerts for various detection types to enhance security and reduce false alarms.

  • via Reolink App

Step 1. Tap the Settings icon in the top-right corner to enter the camera's settings page. Here, you'll find multiple alarm settings, including Camera Recording, Push Notifications, Email Alerts, FTP, Siren, and Linked Devices. Alert types depend on the device model, so the options displayed may vary between models.

Step 2. Tap on one of the settings, such as Camera Recording, and enable it to enter the Schedule page. Under the Alarm tab, you'll see all alert types available for configuration. Enable the alert types as needed. If you want the camera to capture motion recording all the time, enable all the time frames (the enabled frames will be marked in blue). If you prefer to record only during specific times or days, you can customize the schedule according to your needs.

  • via Reolink Client

Step 1. Tap the camera settings button to access the camera's settings page. Here, you'll find various alarm functions, including Record, Email, FTP, Siren, and Push. The specific alert types available are determined by the model of the device, so the options displayed may vary slightly between different models.

Step 2. Tap on one of the alarm functions, such as Record, and enable this function to enter the Schedule page. Here, under the Alarm Schedule section, you'll find various alert types available for configuration. Check the alert types you want to enable. If you want the camera to record every day, enable 24/7 so that all the cells turn blue. If you prefer to record only during specific times or days, you can customize the schedule according to your needs.

4. Notes of Smart Detection Alert

1. For battery-powered cameras, only have an Alarm schedule. Alerts other than smart detection types are labeled as "Others," whereas for plug-in cameras, they are labeled as "Any Motion."

2. Detection types may vary slightly between different models. For instance, the Battery Doorbell camera also supports additional detection types, such as "Visitor" and "Package". Reolink Client and web browser currently do not support configuring the "Package" alert type. You will need to set this up either in the App or on an NVR monitor (if available).

3. For cameras connected to the Home Hub: Be sure to configure the alert schedules directly within the camera’s settings interface, not the Home Hub’s settings. You can access the camera’s settings by clicking on the camera's settings icon.
