If your Reolink battery-powered camera experiences unexpected restarts, it may show signs like random movement, camera rotation, or interruptions in video recording. This guide provides straightforward troubleshooting steps to help you address these occurrences and ensure your camera works smoothly.

Applies to: All Reolink battery-powered cameras.

Symptoms of Reolink Battery-Powered Cameras Auto Reboot

1. Camera randomly rotates or moves.

2. Camera emits power on/off sounds: Even without manual input, the camera may emit sounds as if it is powering on or off, suggesting a restart.

3. Recording stops or becomes inconsistent: For cameras with continuous recording, you might notice gaps in playback or sudden interruptions in video files.

Troubleshooting Steps

1. Verify Operating Temperature

Ensure that the camera operates within the recommended temperature range of –10°C to 55°C (14°F to 131°F).

2. Check Battery Level

Check if the camera’s battery level is below 30%. When the battery is low, it may cause unstable power supply, leading to random restarts. Use a DC 5V 2A adapter to fully charge the camera, then monitor the camera for a period to see if the restart persists.

3. Check Network Connection Stability

Confirm that your camera’s network connection is stable. If you experience lag or disconnection during live preview, it may indicate an issue with network stability.

  • For Wi-Fi Cameras: Ensure your Wi-Fi signal is strong. If the signal is weak, try repositioning the camera closer to the router or using a Wi-Fi extender.

  • For 4G Cameras: Make sure your SIM card is compatible with Reolink 4G camera: Reolink SIM card & 3-party Sim card. Also, check the local signal strength and try relocating the camera or testing it in a different location.

4. Eliminate External Interference

  • Wi-Fi Battery-Powered Cameras: Check if your router has an automatic restart function. If so, disable this feature and see if the camera behaves more consistently.

  • Doorbell (Battery): If connected to your home's existing wiring, make sure the transformer meets the specifications 8-24V, 50/60Hz, 5-40VA for your doorbell.

5. Inspect Battery (For Go Series, Argus 2, and Argus Pro)

For the Go series (Go, Go Plus, Go Ultra), Argus 2, and Argus Pro, which have removable batteries, check the battery contacts for any corrosion or poor connection. Try removing and reinserting the battery to ensure proper contact.
