The detecting distance of motion detection is related to the object size, the range of movement and the sensitivity of your camera, so the specific detection distance cannot be given.

If you do not want to receive alerts from some of the monitoring areas, you can set up Motion Detection Zone to exclude the specific area. Refer to:
