Learn how to check if your Reolink battery-powered camera is charging properly with these simple steps. Follow the guide below.
Applies to: Reolink battery-powered cameras.
Note: Cameras powered by AA batteries only support battery power or continuous power via a DC adapter and do not display a charging icon.
How to Determine if Your Camera Is Charging
You have two methods to check whether the solar panel, DC charger or AC power (for doorbells only) is connected properly to your camera and charging properly.
Recommended Method: Using the App or Client
The easiest and most reliable way to check if your camera is charging is by looking at the charging icon in the Reolink App or Client.
- Charging Status: A lightning bolt icon indicates that the camera is currently charging.
-
Type of Charging Device:
- If a sun icon is displayed, the camera is connected to a solar panel properly.
- If a plug icon is displayed, the camera is connected to a DC charger or AC power.
This method allows you to verify whether the camera is charging and whether the solar panel, DC charger or AC power (for doorbells only) is correctly recognized. If the camera is not charging, the situation may be caused by a loose charging cable or a not working power supply, so checking the connections and the charging device is recommended.
Alternative Method: Using the Camera’s Charging Indicator
Except for cameras with removable AA batteries, all Reolink cameras feature a charging indicator light. The position of this light varies by model. You can check the camera’s Quick Start Guide (QSG) or use the following indicators:
-
Indicator at the Charging Port: If the light is on, the charging device is properly connected.
- Green light: Camera is fully charged or charging current is low.
- Orange light: Camera is charging.
-
Alternating orange and green flashing: Refer to Why does the Red/Orange and Green light at the Back of the Camera Flash Alternately?
Refer to: Introduction to the Battery Status Light for Battery-powered Cameras.
-
Indicator near the Camera Lens:
- Solid blue: Camera is fully charged with a DC power adapter.
- Flashing blue: Camera is charging by a DC power adapter.
-
For solar panel charging: Always refer to the charging icon in the App or Client.

What Do the Battery Indicator Colors on the App Mean?

-
Green: The camera is charging or fully charged.
-
Blue: The camera is not charging, and the battery level is ≥ 40%.
-
Orange: The camera is not charging, and the battery level is < 40%.
- Red: The camera is in low battery condition and requires charging.
