4 Methods to Add Reolink Devices to the App

🔹 Method 1: Add via QR Code or UID (Recommended)

Advantages: Fast, simple, supports local & remote.
Conditions: Need QR code/UID access.

The UID is the device’s unique ID. The QR code stores this information, so scanning or entering the UID lets the App quickly recognize your device. UID starts with 9527; some older models start with XCPTP, see How to Find the UID for Your Reolink Device.

  • Steps:

    1. Tap the “+” icon in the Reolink App.

    2. Scan the device’s QR code (or check your photo album if you saved it) Or tap Manual Input > UID and enter the UID, tap Next.

    3. Enter the device password (for non-battery models, the default username is admin) to access it.

🔹 Method 2: Add via LAN (Local Network)

Advantages: Quick discovery, automatic, no manual input.
Conditions: Works only when device and phone/tablet are on the same LAN.

In this method, the Reolink App automatically detects devices connected to the same local network (LAN). This makes it easy to add devices without knowing the UID or IP address.

  • Steps:

    1. Ensure your phone/tablet and device are on the same LAN (subnet).

    2. Tap the “+” icon > LAN > Add.

    3. Enter the device password (for non-battery models, the default username is admin) to access it.

👉 For detailed information, see: How to Add Reolink Products in LAN via Reolink App

If Add Devices Automatically is enabled, devices will appear automatically in the App home interface.

🔹 Method 3: Add via IP Address (Advanced)

Advantages: Works without UID/QR code, supports local & remote.
Conditions: Requires IP knowledge; port forwarding needed for remote access. Not applicable to battery-powered cameras.

This method connects by using the device’s IP address. For local access, the App communicates directly with the IP. For remote access, router port forwarding is required to allow external connections.

  • Steps:

    1. Find the device IP address:

    2. In the App, tap “+” > Manual Input > IP, enter the IP and tap Next. (The App uses the media port which by default is 9000)

    3. Enter the device password (the default username is admin) to access it.

👉 For remote access via IP, you need to configure port forwarding first on your router. See How to Forward Ports on Router Interface for Reolink Products.

🔹 Method 4: Add via Link (Advanced Sharing)

Advantages: No need for password, flexible sharing, supports local & remote.
Conditions: Only available for devices supporting Advanced Sharing.

Advanced Sharing allows the admin account to create user credentials and generate a secure sharing link. This makes it possible to share device access without password.

  • Steps:

    1. On the original admin account, create a new admin/user and generate a sharing link.

    2. In the App, tap “+” > Manual Input > Link.

    3. Paste the link and tap Next to add the device.
