You may follow the steps below to watch a live feed from your device via VLC Media Player.

Applies to: Which Reolink Products Support CGI_RTSP_ONVIF

Step 1. Enable the RTSP and Onvif ports on the camera. (For most cameras, these ports are disabled by default, so you need to enable the corresponding ports. Some models may not have an option to toggle this setting, in which case the ports are enabled by default. Please refer to this article to check your camera settings: How to Configure Reolink Ports Settings).

Step 2. Download and install the latest version of the VLC player.

Step 3. Go to Media > Open Network Stream > Network:

VLC open network stream

Step 4. Input the RTSP URL.

The RTSP URL should be:

Main Stream: rtsp://admin:password@ip_address/Preview_01_main

Sub Stream: rtsp://admin:password@ip_address/Preview_01_sub

Alternatively, you can also use this URL (Main Stream by default): rtsp://(user name):(password)@(ip address):554/

For example,

if your device IP address is 192.168.0.110 and the password is 111111, then your RTSP URL should be:

Main Stream: rtsp://admin:111111@192.168.0.110/Preview_01_main

Sub Stream:  rtsp://admin:111111@192.168.0.110/Preview_01_sub

Note: Do not use special characters for your password.

If your camera is connected to Reolink NVR or Reolink Home Hub, please check this article for more information: Introduction to RTSP

Step 5. Double-check the URL and then click Play to start the live feed.

Note: the 4k cameras connected with the 4k NVR system will only show a fluent live stream instead of the clear live stream due to the H.264+(h.265) limit.
