Why is my security camera blurry at night? This article will guide you through troubleshooting this issue.

Symptoms for Reolink Camera Blurry at Night

During the day, the live view is normal, but at night, the images are either overexposed, blurry, foggy or have glare, resembling a kaleidoscope with numerous light spots.

Troubleshooting Steps for Fixing Reolink Camera Night Vision Blurry

Physical Inspection

1. Adjust the camera position to avoid direct exposure to strong light. Ensure that the camera lens is not facing smooth walls, mirrors, bright lights, or reflective ceilings and floors.

2. Clean the lens. Dust and other debris are often not visible to the naked eye, so make sure to use a clean cloth to wipe the lens. If you see kaleidoscope-like spots or moving light spots (which might be spider webs), clean the lens thoroughly and observe again.

3. For explosion-proof dome cameras, such as the RLC-843A, RLC-840A, RLC-540A, RLC-1240A, 840WA, 843WA, etc.,

  • Please check if there is any dust on the inner surface of the dome facing the sunlight. If dust is present, clean the inner surface with alcohol.
  • Open the glass cover and lift the lens upward. Adjust the lens angle so that all infrared lights are not obstructed by the base.dome cameras

4. Change the camera's installation location or scene to determine whether the issue is related to the camera or the environment. Particularly, if the camera is installed near a wall, the IR lights can be reflected by the wall, causing overexposure. In this case, adjust the camera angle to move it away from the wall to resolve the issue.

Setting Check

1. If the image is nearly overexposed or completely white, try all the options under anti-flicker settings: How to Set up Anti-flicker

2. Adjust the image brightness. Please refer to: How to Adjust the Brightness for Reolink Cameras

3. Unreasonable image settings might cause issues. In the image settings section, there is a "default" button. Pressing this button will restore only the image settings to their original state and see if it helps.

4. Restore the camera. Please refer to: How to Restore Reolink Products.
