This article explains the principle of how the NVR assigns passwords to cameras and how to resolve related issues you may encounter.

Applies to: RLN8-410 (hardware version H3MB18/N2MB02/N3MB01/N7MB01), RLN16-410 (hardware version H3MB18/N6MB01), RLN36 and RLN12W.

Principle

To protect the privacy and security of the camera, Reolink NVR assigns a random password to the camera.

Situations and Solutions

1. When a camera and NVR are on the same local network (not necessarily directly connected), and the Auto Add function on the NVR is enabled, a brand new camera powered on will be immediately detected by the NVR and assigned a random password.

2. Reolink IP camera default password is blank. But if you are prompted to enter a password during initial setup or after restoring/resetting a camera, check if the camera has been automatically scanned by your Reolink NVR. If so, the NVR has already assigned a random password, and you cannot create a new password directly in the software.

Solution 1

Step 1: Disable the NVR's Auto Add feature. Please refer to: How to Enable/Disable Auto Add via Reolink NVR (New UI)

Step 2: Delete the camera from the NVR. Please refer to: How to Delete Camera via Reolink NVR (New UI)

Step 3: Reset your camera and reconfigure it. Please refer to: How to Hard Reset Device by Pressing the Reset Button

Solution 2
