If your Reolink NVR (Network Video Recorder) monitor is displaying a black screen for one or more cameras, it can be caused by several factors. Follow these steps to diagnose and fix the black screen problem.
Applies to: all Reolink cameras that support working with Reolink NVR.
Symptoms for Camera Black Screen on Reolink NVR
1. The camera displays a black screen when viewed in full screen on the NVR monitor.
2. The camera shows a black screen (or even with “1080P”) when being displayed in multi-screens on the NVR monitor.
Note:
- If a single camera displays a black screen, please check the CPU usage or real-time bit rate in the IPC information. If either value is 0, please turn to Reolink PoE Cameras not Connecting to NVR
- If the entire NVR screen is black and no menu is visible, proceed to No Video Output on the Monitor/TV from Reolink NVRs
Fix Reolink Black Screen Issues on NVR Monitor
1. Verify the compatibility between the NVR and the camera.
Refer to Introduction to Hardware Versions of Reolink NVRs
- If they're compatible, try updating the NVR to the latest firmware version to see if it resolves the issue. Reolink Firmware Update Guide
- If not, it is recommended not to add the camera to the NVR and instead use it independently. How to Power on Reolink PoE Cameras
2. For 12MP cameras, lower the resolution.
Not all NVRs support the 12MP cameras. Which NVR Can Work with Reolink 12MP Cameras
Reduce the resolution of the camera main stream to 6MP or 8MP, to match the decoding width of the NVR and see if its image can be loaded or not. Refer to: How to Configure Stream Settings Via Reolink NVRs (New UI).
If the above suggestions don't work, please gather the system information for both the camera and the NVR. Contact the Reolink Support Team and provide them with the info for further assistance.
By following these steps, you can diagnose and potentially resolve the issue of a black live view page on your Reolink NVR. If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to contact Support for personalized guidance.
