This article introduces the differences between hard reset, software restore and reboot.

Applies to: All Reolink cameras and NVRs

Hard reset means pressing the reset button on the device body. It can only be done when you have physical access to the device.

Restore is an operation on Reolink App/Client that can be done remotely even when you are not next to your Reolink device.

Reboot can both be done manually or via the software. It serves to switch off the device and restart it. It will not change the settings of the device.

Reset and restore serve a similar purpose to bring the Reolink device back to its default settings, there are certain differences between them.
