The BW/Color Mode Switching Threshold is a setting that allows you to customize when your camera transitions between color and black-and-white modes based on lighting conditions. This setting helps ensure optimal image quality and clarity in different environments.

Applies to

All Reolink cameras EXCEPT:

  • Battery-powered cameras
  • CX series cameras
  • Add-on cameras in the NVR kits
  • Cameras with hardware version IPC_513/515/517
  • Reolink Lumus

How the BW/Color Mode Switching Threshold Works

This setting controls the camera’s sensitivity to light, which affects when it automatically switches between color and black-and-white modes. Fine-tuning this threshold can improve accuracy in specific lighting situations, especially in scenarios where the camera does not switch between color and black-and-white modes as expected. For instance:

  • At Night: If the camera stays in color mode instead of switching to black and white.
  • During the Day: If the camera remains in black-and-white mode rather than switching to color.

Threshold Slider (Threshold Value Switch):

  • Move the slider toward "Bright" to make the camera switch more readily to color mode.
  • Move the slider toward "Dark" to make it switch more easily to black-and-white mode.

Tips: For general use, the default setting is recommended. Use the "Restore Default Value" option to revert to default.
