How to Set up Patrol for Reolink Device

Setting up patrol mode on your Reolink camera allows it to automatically move between preset positions, ensuring better coverage and security. This guide walks you through the simple steps to configure patrol efficiently on different software.

Before setting up patrol for your camera, set the presets first.

• Via Reolink App

  Step 1. Launch the Reolink App (update to the latest version) and enter your camera's live-view page. Tap the PTZ icon, and then tap the Patrol icon > Add icon "+" on the dashboard.

   

  Step 2. On the Patrol setting page, choose the preset points you've set in advance as the patrol points. Tap Confirm to save the settings. Then you'll see the patrol points appear under Patrol Route.

   

  Step 3. Tap to set the Patrol Schedule. (You could enable Allow Auto Tracking when the camera stops at some patrol point, if supported and necessary.)

   
  On the Patrol Schedule page, all time periods are enabled by default.

  If you want to customize it, tap Time Zone and select the desired time slots according to your needs. Then tap Enable or Disable to configure the selected periods. For added convenience, you can copy the schedule to other days of the week if needed. Blue indicates Enabled, while gray indicates Disabled. Once finished, go back to the previous page and click Save to save and apply the settings.

   

  

  Step 4. Enable Patrol Function. If you do not need Patrol temporarily, you can simply disable it. (Blue indicates Enabled, while gray indicates Disabled.) The configured patrol route, schedule, preset points, and other Patrol settings will be retained after being disabled. When Patrol is enabled again, the camera will continue using the previously saved configuration.
  

  Patrol Management:

  After setting up Patrol, you can manage Patrol by editing, deleting, and changing the order to enhance your patrol experience.

  1. Edit: Customize the duration of stay(s) and patrol speed at each preset point. duration of stay(s) refers to the stay time at that patrol point. Patrol speed refers to the speed at which the camera moves from the previous patrol point to that patrol point. The default duration of stay is 10 seconds, and the speed is 32. If you want to reset this setting, you could tap Restore to Default Settings.
   

  2. Delete: Delete the preset point you do not want the camera to patrol.

  3. Order: Drag it to change the order of the preset points. Then the patrol route will also be altered.

• Via Reolink Client

  Step 1. Launch the Reolink Client and enter the live-view page of your camera. Then click the PTZ button.

  

  Step 2. Click Patrol on the PTZ panel. Then click the Add button.

         

  Step 3. Choose the preset points you've set in advance as the patrol points. Tap Confirm to save the settings. Then you'll see the patrol points appear under Patrol List. The camera patrols through the patrol points in the order they appear in the list, from top to bottom.

     

  Step 4. Start to patrol by clicking . You could also stop it by clicking if you do not need Patrol temporarily. The configured patrol route, schedule, preset points, and other Patrol settings will be retained after stopping. When Patrol is started again, the camera will continue using the previously saved configuration.

  Patrol Management:

  2. : You may click to refresh the patrol points in case they have not been modified automatically as you modified the presets.

  3. : Delete the preset point you do not want the camera to patrol. Once all the patrol points are deleted, the patrol route is deleted accordingly.

  4. You can change the order of the patrol points by dragging them with your mouse. Then the patrol route will change accordingly.

• Via Reolink Web browser

  Step 1. Input the IP Address of your camera on a web browser and log in to your camera.

  Step 2. Click the drop-down arrow to unfold the PTZ menu on the live-view page. Then click Patrol.

  

  Step 3. Click to choose the preset points you've set in advance as the patrol points. Tap Confirm to save the settings. Then you'll see the patrol points appear under Patrol List. The camera patrols through the patrol points in the order they appear in the list, from top to bottom.

   

  Step 4. Start to patrol by clicking . You could also stop it by clicking if you do not need Patrol temporarily. The configured patrol route, schedule, preset points, and other Patrol settings will be retained after stopping. When Patrol is started again, the camera will continue using the previously saved configuration.
  

  Patrol Management:

• Via Reolink NVR (new UI)

  Step 1. Enter the live-view page of your camera on the NVR monitor, and click the PTZ icon to call the PTZ menu.

  

  Step 2. Click the Patrol > Patrol Route. Then click Add button to add presets as the patrol points of your patrol route.

   

  Step 3. Choose the preset points you need. And you could also click the Add button to add more presets. The camera patrols through the patrol points in the order they appear in the list, from top to bottom.
   

  Step 4 (Optional). You could click to customize the duration of stay(s) and patrol speed at each preset point. After customizing, click Confirm and then go back to the previous page.

  Duration of stay(s) refers to the stay time at that patrol point. Patrol speed refers to the speed at which the camera moves from the previous patrol point to that patrol point. The default duration of stay is 10 seconds, and the speed is 32. 
  

  On this page, you can also delete the patrol points by clicking . Once all the patrol points are deleted, the patrol route is deleted accordingly.

  Step 5. Finished all settings, click Start to patrol, and then the camera patrols through the patrol points in order. 

  You could also stop it by clicking Pause the Patrol if you do not need Patrol temporarily. The configured patrol route, schedule, preset points, and other Patrol settings will be retained after stopping. When Patrol is started again, the camera will continue using the previously saved configuration.
  

• Via Reolink NVR (Old UI)

  Step 1. Enter the PTZ control panel to click the Patrol button.

  

  

  Step 2. Check the No. box to choose the presets you need in the patrol path, then click Set to configure its Duration and Speed.

  

  
  ▶ Preset Name: Select one position set in Preset.
  ▶ Duration: Set the duration time that the camera will stay at this position.
  ▶ Speed: Set the speed by turning to the next position.

  Step 3. After setting up all the preset positions you need, click Add to save the settings, and the setup of the patrol path is completed. Now you can click Start to start the patrol then click OK to exit the page.

  

Additional Notes:

1. The same preset can be added to the patrol route repeatedly.

2. Allow Auto Tracking when the camera stops at some patrol point: The camera can remain at a specific patrol point and, when an alarm is detected, track the target. To enable this function, make sure Auto-tracking is turned on and configured correctly. After tracking is completed, the camera will resume patrol. This feature is available on the RLC-823S Series.

3. You can add up to 16 patrol points. These cameras repeat the patrol route every 15 seconds. For example, after finishing one patrol route, the RLC-823S1 waits 15 seconds before beginning the next patrol.
