  • Can a 5G Nano SIM card work with Reolink Duo 4G camera?

The camera works on 4G networks. It also supports 3G, which is not recommended though (since wireless companies are working to retire older network technologies). It does not support a 5G or 2G Nano SIM card.
Yet it does not matter whether you use a 4G or 5G mobile phone to access the camera. The camera needs a Nano SIM card of its own, which is totally irrelevant to your mobile's SIM card.
    Note:
    (1) The camera does not support a WiFi connection.
    (2) As of July 1, 2022 T-Mobile’s older 3G UMTS network will be retired.

  • Can I use this camera with 3rd-party software and Reolink NVR?

Reolink battery-powered cameras can’t work with third-party software and Reolink NVR due to the hardware limit.
All Reolink battery-powered cameras don't support ONVIF protocol, RTSP stream, and related communication protocols that third-party software requires.
In addition, most third-party software and Reolink NVR don't have the battery management option that allows the camera to enter the power-saving standby mode when no motion is detected, thus they can't work together.
Therefore, it is recommended to access Reolink battery-powered cameras via Reolink software.

  • Can I turn off the spotlights?

Yes, you can turn off the spotlights manually.

  • Can this camera support smart home like Google Home or Alexa?

No, the Duo 4G camera does not support a smart home.

  • Can this camera support a Time-lapse function?

No, the Duo 4G camera does not support a Time-lapse function.

  • How can I charge the camera? Is a solar panel a must?

You have two charging options (including solar charging):
Option 1. Have the camera connected to a solar panel for a non-stop power supply.
(Also recommended as the most friendly charging option for the cam's battery.)
Option 2. Charge the camera (with its non-removable battery) via a 5V 2A USB charger. (Please note that it's ok to charge the cam while it's working, but not for long.)
(Note: To purchase one Reolink Solar Panel, you can choose "1 Camera + 1 Solar Panel" option while buying this camera; or you can buy it separately from https://store.reolink.com/accessories/.)

  • How long does the battery last?

The camera comes with a rechargeable battery. Normally, the battery lasts for about 1-4 weeks per charge (Actual use varies based on settings, use conditions and environmental factors.) When the battery level goes down to 10%, the camera will send you a low-battery notification.
For a non-stop power supply, you can connect the camera to a Reolink Solar Panel (purchased separately).

  • How to choose a Nano SIM card?

Please check our official website link supported SIM card provider to find the right Nano SIM card provider in your region. It is suggested you use the Nano SIM card we recommend on the official website, otherwise, it might have a compatibility issue.

  • How much data does Reolink Duo 4G need in normal usage?

Data usage of this camera depends on the bitrate you set up. 1 hour of live feed in 4MP mode for one channel (default bitrate: 3Mbps) will use about 2GB of data. (In 4MP mode, only one channel is available for live feed). If you use 1GB of data to stream live feed in Fluent mode for one channel (default bitrate: 512kbps), you can watch for about 5 hours, while 1GB of data to stream live feed in Fluent mode for two channels at the same time (default bitrate: 512kbps for each) will last for about 2.5 hours. Based on that, you can estimate the data usage to choose the right data plan for you.

  • Is a Nano SIM card necessary to get the camera to work?

If you want to view the camera live stream, check recordings on the Reolink software, then a Nano SIM card is necessary. If you only need the camera to record motions, you can just insert a micro SD card into the camera, but if you want to view the video on the micro SD card, you need to connect the micro SD card to the computer via a card reader.
