For cameras connected to an NVR, you can set the camera to record motion events and/or record continuously to the NVR HDD at the same time. Here is a guide on how to set up a recording schedule on Reolink Client.

Applies to: RLN8-410 (hardware version H3MB18/N2MB02/N3MB01/N7MB01), RLN16-410 (hardware version H3MB18/N6MB01), RLN36 and RLN12W.

Before setting up a recording schedule for cameras connected to NVR, please make sure you have configured the detection alarm settings according to your needs. This is the presupposition for motion recording.

Step 1. Launch Reolink Client and log in to the NVR, then click on  Device Settings >  Device > Motion Detection. Choose the channel and then configure all the alarm settings such as Sensitivity, Alarm Delay, Object Size, and None-Detection Zone for the camera/channel. Please note that for the cameras that do not support smart detection, there will be no settings for the alarm delay and object size.

Step 2. Go to Surveillance > Record. You must first Enable Record so the NVR HDD will start recording.

You could also configure other record settings for NVR such as Overwrite, Post-Motion Record, and Pack Duration at this time.

Notes:
1. Post-Motion Record Duration: the time during which camera will continue to record after the motion event ends.

2. Pack Duration: the length of a continuous recording file. Under normal conditions, if you set the camera to record constantly, the recording file is packaged on HDD every 30/45/60 minutes according to your pack duration settings. The default pack duration is 60 minutes.

3. Overwrite: make the system to delete the previous recordings at a set interval to free up storage space.

Step 3. Click Schedule to set up recording schedules for the camera added to the NVR.

Part 1. Set up a motion alarm recording schedule.

Motion recording means the camera will record when it detects motion events. If your camera supports smart detection, you could choose to record certain types of alarm events instead of recording all motion-triggered events.

Step 4. Go to Surveillance > Record > Schedule. Choose the channel you want to configure and turn on the Schedule button. Then select Alarm to configure motion alarm recording. Tick the detection type for recording, and click on the grids (one for an hour) to Enable/Disable motion-triggered recording for that hour.

Notes:

  • For cameras with smart detection, there are four detection types: any motion, person, vehicle, and pet). Tick to choose which types of recording you want the camera to record. If you choose Any Motion only, then it will only detect normal motions and you can't see Person, Vehicle, or Pet recording while playback.
  • Please note that the detection types vary from different models of your camera, and some cameras (8MP and 12MP) support setting the recording for your pet/animal. No detection type can be chosen for some models that do not support smart detection. The camera record all motion-triggered alarm events.

Part 2. Set up a continuous recording schedule.

Step 5. Select Timer. Choose Enable/disable and then click on the grids (one for an hour) to Enable/Disable continuous recording for that hour. Blue means enabled while gray means disabled.

After you finish recording schedule settings, click Save to save the camera recording schedule.

If you'd like the recording schedule for the selected camera/channel to be applied to other cameras/channels, click Apply to Other Cameras and select the wanted camera. It's fairly convenient.
