When viewing your camera, you might encounter problems such as smearing or ghosting images, or noise images. Adjusting the exposure and backlight settings may help you with the problem.
Applies to: Reolink Lumus, RLC-410, RLC-520, RLC-511, and RLC-522.
If you feel the image is overexposed/underexposed, with the image problems like too bright, too dark, smearing, or noise picture, you can try to adjust the two parameters to see if the problem could be solved.
On the Reolink App:
Step 1. Launch Reolink App and log in to your camera. Go to Device Settings > Display page. Then tap Advanced.
You will see the exposure of the camera is set to Auto by default and the backlight is Off.
Note: It's recommended to leave the two settings by default.
Step 2. Tap Exposure to select an exposure mode and adjust its parameter with the slider.
- If there are distinctive noise points on the camera image, try to tick Noise and lower the Gain Range (slide the slider of the blue bar closer to the left).
- If the image is smearing or ghosting, try to select Smearing and lower the Shutter Range.
Or you can select Manual to adjust Gain Range and Shutter Range based on your needs.
Step 3. Tap Backlight on the Advanced page.
Backlight will optimize brightness and contrast levels to compensate for differences between dark and bright objects.
- Off: There will be no backlight compensation for the image.
- Backlight: The image will be lightened up if you slide the value higher. And the contrast between the bright parts and the darker parts will be optimized.
- Dynamic Range: The backlight will be compensated dynamically according to the range you've set.
On the Reolink Client:
Step 1. Please go to Settings > Display > Advanced.
Step 2. Click the Exposure drag-down menu. Choose the exposure mode according to your needs.
- Choose Low Noise and lower the Gain Range to reduce the image noise.
- Choose Anti-Smearing and lower the value to reduce smearing images.
- Choose Manual to customize the Gain and the Shutter range.
Step 3. Click the drag-down to configure Backlight.
- Off: No backlight compensation.
- Backlight: The brightness and darkness of the image could be adjusted according to your needs. The higher the value, the brighter the image.
- Dynamic Range: The backlight will be compensated dynamically according to the range you've set.
