When viewing your camera, you may notice smearing, ghosting, or noise in the images. Adjusting the exposure and backlight settings can help improve the image quality.
Applies to: Reolink Lumus, RLC-410, RLC-520, RLC-511, and RLC-522.
It's recommended to leave the two settings by default. If you feel the image is overexposed/underexposed, with image problems like too bright, too dark, smearing, or noisy pictures, you can try to adjust the two parameters to see if the image quality could be improved. This article will be presented in 3 parts:
1. Settings of Exposure and Backlight
Settings of Exposure:
Exposure adjusts the amount of light captured by the camera, optimizing brightness and clarity in both dark and bright areas of the image.
1. Low Noise: If there are distinctive noise points on the camera image, try to tick Low Noise and lower the Gain Range.
2. Anti-Smearing: If the image is smearing or ghosting, try to select Smearing and lower the Shutter Range.
3. Manual: Select Manual to adjust the Gain Range and Shutter Range based on your needs.
Take the interface of the Reolink Client as an example:
Settings of Backlight:
Backlight will optimize brightness and contrast levels to compensate for differences between dark and bright objects.
1. Off: There will be no backlight compensation for the image.
2. Backlight: The image will be lightened up if you slide the value higher. And the contrast between the bright parts and the darker parts will be optimized.
3. Dynamic Range: The backlight will be compensated dynamically according to the range you've set.
