When you fail to playback the video of the NVR, the formatting failure is displayed when formatting the HDD, or when you find the red led in front of the NVR stays solid red and failed to format the HDD, here are some possible causes for your reference.
Cause 1: The firmware version of the NVR is quite old.
Cause 2: Format the HDD immediately after rebooting the NVR.
If the NVR hasn't loaded all the storage on the HDD after reboot, it will lead to formatting failure. Please wait for the video to be fully loaded before formatting.
Cause 3: Software issue
Please restore the NVR to test whether the issue can be fixed.
Cause 4: Defective HDD.
If possible, please unplug the original HDD and use another HDD to test whether the NVR can work normally. If yes, please contact support for a warranty. Please click here to learn how the change the HDD.
Cause 5: The compatibility issue between HDD and NVR.
If the HDD is the original one that comes with the NVR, please ignore this.
If you purchase the HDD by yourself, please check the spec and type of the HDD here.
Cause 6: Incorrect power supply for the NVR.
For the output voltage of the Reolink DC power adapter, please refer to the table below:
|NVR||8 channel POE NVR||48V 1.87A|
|16 channel POE NVR||48V 2.5A|
To confirm the issue more quickly, please use the original DC power adapter to power up the NVR.
If the problem persists after going through the steps above, you may contact our support team by submitting a request with your troubleshooting results and the firmware version of the NVR for assistance.
