Reolink Law Enforcement Guidelines
These guidelines are intended for use by law enforcement when seeking information from Reolink, or its subsidiaries (“Reolink”).
Required Legal Process
Reolink will not release user information to law enforcement except in response to a valid and binding legal request properly served on us. Reolink objects to legal requests it determines to be overbroad or inappropriate. Reolink rejects requests that do not provide sufficient information to locate responsive records.
Reolink distinguishes between content and non-content information. We may produce non-content information in response to a valid subpoena, search warrant, or other court order. Content information will only be disclosed in response to a valid search warrant or with the consent of the account owner. Requests and questions should be sent to support@reolink.com.
“Non-content” information includes user information such as name, address, email address, billing information and date of account creation.
“Content” information includes user-generated content such as videos.
In general, Reolink has access to videos only if the user has a current Reolink Cloud subscription that was in place at the time of the event. The Business Plan subscription allows Reolink to retain such videos for no longer than 60 days. Storage is for 30 days if the user subscribes Premier or Standard Plan. And the Basic Plan allows Reolink to keep videos for 7 days at most. At any time during the retention period outlined above, a user may permanently delete videos.
Requests from Non-Hong Kong Law Enforcement
Non-Hong Kong law enforcement seeking to obtain data from Reolink must work through the available legal and diplomatic channels in its jurisdiction.
Methods of Service
Reolink accepts service electronically. Legal requests may be served by emailing requests to support@reolink.com. If your request is an emergency, please see Other Information - Emergencies below.
Other Information
Preservation. Upon receipt of a lawful and binding request Reolink will preserve requested information for up to 90 days. Please note that the preservation process may be rejected if the data to be preserved is not clearly specified and/or the details required to locate the data are not provided.
Notification. Unless it is prohibited from doing so or has a clear indication of illegal conduct in connection with the use of Reolink products or services, Reolink notifies customers before disclosing content information.
Emergencies. Reolink reserves the right to respond immediately to urgent law enforcement requests for information in cases involving imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to any person. Emergency disclosure requests must be submitted to support@reolink.com. Such requests must include “EMERGENCY” in the subject line and be accompanied by a completed emergency request form.
Reimbursement. Reolink may seek reimbursement for costs associated with responding to law enforcement requests for information, particularly if the costs incurred are the result of responding to burdensome or unique requests.
Stolen Devices. Law enforcement seeking to obtain business records related to a stolen device must submit a valid and binding legal request for that information.
Testimony. Reolink does not provide expert testimony. Additionally, Reolink’s records are self-authenticating and should not require the testimony of a records custodian. If required and requested, Reolink may be able to provide a special form of certification for the records produced or a time/date stamp for videos. Please contact support@reolink.com for more information.
Finding the Device UID
This is the fastest and most reliable way for us to identify the correct account and locate the relevant device. The UID for Reolink products can be found in the following locations:
In the Reolink application: open Reolink app > Tap the gear icon to enter the Device Setting > Tap "Share Camera"
On the Reolink device: on the body of the device
If the UID is unavailable, we may be able to search by name, address, telephone number and/or email address. Please note, however, that responding to these requests may require additional time.
