To know more about HDMI and VGA or their differences, please refer to this article.

Applies to: All Reolink NVRs.

HDMI port is a proprietary audio/video interface for transmitting high-quality and high-bandwidth streams of audio and video between devices.

VGA port utilizes analog signals, which means it is only capable of lower resolutions and lower quality displays on screens. It does not transmit audio signals.

Reolink NVR can either use an HDMI or VGA cable to connect to the monitor, and it can work with a regular HDMI/VGA cable. There are no special requirements.

Please notice that the maximum cable length is 15 meters.

The main differences between HDMI and VAG are as below:

  • VGA is an analog video standard while HDMI is digital.
  • VGA can only carry a video signal while HDMI can carry other signals along with the video.
  • VGA is usually used in computers while HDMI is used in HD TV sets and media players.

For Reolink NVRs, the main difference between VGA and HDMI is that VGA does not support audio output while HDMI does.

Note: Audio output via HDMI can be achieved only when the NVR's output resolution is set to 720P, 1080P, or 4K.
