This guide will show you how to check the camera status through different versions of Reolink NVR user interfaces so you can identify problems like network disconnection, incorrect passwords, or account lockouts.

Applies to: Reolink NVRs

Reolink NVRs have two kinds of user interface. You can confirm the user interface of your NVR according to the hardware version before checking this guide, refer to Comprehensive Guide to Reolink NVR Hardware Versions.

There are three different camera statuses of the camera that is not currently accessible by the NVR:

  • Went Offline: The camera might be powered off or disconnected from the network.
  • Incorrect account name or password: The password of the camera might have been changed to another one. Please click Modify to enter the correct password.
  • Account locked: The account will be locked if the password is entered incorrectly too many times.

The camera status is accessible through the following methods:

Method 1: Check camera status on the Channel Management page

Go to Settings > Channel, and you will see the channel list of the NVR.

Note: If you don’t see your camera on the current page, you can click the right arrow at the bottom of the Channel Management page to view other channels.

1. For RLN4-410, RLN8-410 (hardware version H3MB02/H3MB16), and RLN16-410 (hardware version H3MB02/H3MB06):

There are four types of status for Reolink cameras on the IP Channel page of PoE NVR, like the picture below:

ip channel

The four types of status are Previewing, Offline, Invalid Password, and Connect Fail.

Previewing: the camera has successfully connected to the NVR.

Offline: the camera might be powered off or disconnected from the network.

Invalid Password: the password of the camera might be changed to another one. Or the one you entered for the camera into the menu of the NVR is wrong. Please find the correct one and right-drag the scroll bar to input the correct password for it.

Connect fail: the NVR assigns a channel for the camera, but they don't communicate well and cameras are not added to NVR successfully for some reason. We need to reset the NVR and camera to see whether the status becomes Previewing after that. Please try to reset the NVR and camera to check.

2. For RLN4-210W, RLN4-211W:

There are three types of status for Reolink cameras on the IP Channel page of WiFi NVR like the picture below:

wifi nvr

The three types of status are Previewing, Invalid Password, and Connect Fail.

Previewing: the camera has successfully connected to the NVR.

Invalid Password: the password of the camera must be blank. WiFi NVR does not support changing passwords.

Connect fail: the NVR assigns a channel for the camera, but they don't communicate well and cameras are not added to the NVR successfully for some reason. We need to reset the NVR and camera to see whether the status becomes Previewing after that. Please try to reset the NVR and camera to check.
