Looking to change the IP address? Whether you want to manually assign a static IP to your Reolink camera, NVR, or Home Hub, or have your router automatically assign one via DHCP, you can easily manage these settings in your device’s network configuration menu.

Applies to: All Reolink devices except battery-powered ones.

Note: Battery-powered cameras do not support network setting configuration. For details, see: Can I Set Static IP Address for Battery-powered Cameras .

DHCP vs Static IP: Definitions and Use Cases

Type Description  Typical Use Cases

DHCP

(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)

Automatically assigns an IP address to a device from the router’s available pool.
  • Suitable for home or small office networks, where devices automatically obtain an IP address from the router, making setup and management easier.
  • Ideal for environments where devices frequently change locations or require quick connections.
Static IP A fixed IP address manually set on the device that does not change.
  • Recommended for households with many devices, where you need to manage your own devices and network.
  • This configuration is also ideal for security cameras or recorders, ensuring stable remote access and consistent connectivity.

How to Assign or Change IP Address/DHCP Configuration

Choose the appropriate setup based on specific needs and usage scenarios. As an advanced feature, it cannot be configured via the App; use the following software platforms to set up DHCP or Static IP:

Note: When the camera is connected to a Reolink NVR or Home Hub series, the camera is managed by the NVR or Home Hub, so the camera’s IP address cannot be configured individually.
