Reolink battery-powered cameras use PIR sensors to detect motions. The PIR sensor (passive infrared sensor) detects changes in the amount of infrared radiation impinging upon it, which varies depending on the temperature and surface characteristics of the objects in front of the sensor.
Given the working principle of battery-powered cameras, the cameras cannot only be triggered by human activities. The cameras will be triggered by the temperature changes in front of the cameras.
You may follow the steps below to configure the PIR setting.
Step 1. Choosing a proper position and it will avoid most false alerts. Please refer to Installation Tips on the PIR sensor for Reolink Battery-Powered cameras.
Step 2. Set the PIR schedule to control the active time of motion detection.
Step 3. Set the PIR sensitivity to control your device reacting toward a different level of motions.
Note: Reolink cameras which support Smart Detection (RLC-510A; RLC-520A; RLC-810A; RLC-811A; RLC-820A; RLC-822A; RLC-1210A; RLC-1220A; RLC-511WA) can be set to detect person only or vehicle only. If you have the requirement, then please purchase one of these cameras.
