To optimize power usage for your doorbell camera and extend camera battery life, Reolink battery doorbell cameras offer advanced power modes. In the following sections, you'll find detailed explanations of each mode and how to set them up.

Select the right mode for optimal performance and efficiency that matches your needs.

Understanding Power Modes for Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery)

Mode 1. Power-Saving Mode

This mode minimizes battery consumption to extend camera battery life.

How It Works:

Features like push notifications, siren alerts, and motion recording activate only when the doorbell button is pressed and not by motion events. The button status lights and indicator lights remain off. Once pressed, the camera starts recording for 8 seconds, and after that, it continues to record for an additional 8 seconds of post-recording.

Mode 2. Balanced Mode

This mode optimizes battery usage on camera while ensuring normal monitoring functions remain unaffected.

How It Works:

With the balanced mode on, the detection interval will be automatically adjusted to minimize redundant detections. Post-recording lasts 8 seconds, with the PIR interval set to 13 seconds, ensuring a minimum 5-second gap between events.

Mode 3. High-Performance Mode

This mode prioritizes camera performance to ensure optimal monitoring results.

How It Works:

In this mode, the camera records every motion event and sends a low battery warning to your app when in low battery status.

Mode 4. Custom Mode

The custom mode allows users to adjust recording settings according to their needs, including PIR trigger interval and post-recording duration.

How It Works:

Adjust the PIR trigger interval and post-recording duration.

  • PIR Trigger Interval: Refers to the interval between consecutive motion detections by the PIR sensor, adjustable from 5 to 120 seconds, with the default set to 5 seconds.
  • Post-recording Duration: Refers to the additional recording time after the alarm ends. You can choose 8, 15, or 30 seconds, with the default set to 8 seconds.

In summary:

  • If your camera drains power quickly, Power-Saving Mode is the best option to extend battery life.
  • If you have specific monitoring needs, such as capturing every event, and your camera has sufficient battery for frequent detections and alerts, choose High-Performance Mode.
  • If you don’t have specific needs but want the camera to detect events and trigger alerts while maintaining a reasonable battery level, choose Balanced Mode.
  • If none of the above modes meet your needs, you can select Custom Mode to adjust the settings to your preference.
