1. Which Reolink Camera Can Be Added to Alexa

For adding Reolink cameras to Amazon Alexa, we will divide it into three scenarios: camera used standalone, camera connected to a Reolink Home Hub, and camera connected to a Reolink NVR. Please refer to the table below to understand the compatibility of Reolink devices and choose the appropriate usage scenario.

3. Guide to Add Reolink Cameras to Amazon Alexa

Preparation:

To use your Reolink cameras with Amazon Alexa, you may need to have the following devices and Apps set up:
  • Reolink App and Amazon Alexa App
  • Reolink camera that supports Smart Home
  • Alexa Device: An Amazon Echo Show or An Amazon Echo Spot (This is optional for cameras that support live viewing via the Alexa App, as you can check the live video feed on the Alexa App.)

Step-by-Step Instruction:

Step 1. Add your device to Reolink Smart Home

1. Launch the Reolink App and add the camera to the Reolink App. Make sure you can access the camera via an external network. You may switch the phone network to mobile data/a different Wi-Fi network and check if you can access the camera. How to Add Reolink Camera or NVR to Reolink App

Note: If the camera is added to a Reolink Home Hub, please add the Home Hub to the Reolink App.

2. Tap Cloud > Smart Home section. If you did not log into your Reolink account on the App, you will be asked to log in after you tap the Smart Home section.

3. Enable the device you want to add to Amazon Alexa on the Smart Home page.

Note:

1. When the camera is successfully enabled, the button will be shown as Disable.

2. If Reolink devices do not appear in the Smart Home section of the Reolink App, refer to the guide for troubleshooting: Camera Is Not Displayed in the Smart Home Page of the Reolink App

If the camera is linked to Reolink Home Hub/Home Hub Pro, only the hub will be visible on the Smart Home page, enabling you to add several cameras to Reolink Smart Home at once. Once you enable the hub, it indicates that the smart home function for all cameras added to the hub is activated.

(The cameras shown in the image below are not connected to the Home Hub but are stand-alone cameras already added to the Reolink App and support Smart Home integration. )

4. To make your voice command easily recognized via Alexa, you'd better change the camera name. Front Door or Backyard Camera or names like these will be great. How to Change Camera Name via Reolink App

Step 2. Connect Reolink camera to Alexa

1. Launch and sign in the Alexa App. Tap the Devices button (the Light bulb icon) at the bottom and then the Plus (+) button in the upper right corner. Then tap Add Device on the pop-up section.

2. Choose Camera > Reolink Brand.

3. You will see the following prompts. When you have confirmed all of them, tap Yes for each one.

4. Tap Next to connect Reolink account to Alexa.

5. Log in to your Reolink account (make sure it is the same one that the device is linked to on the Reolink App). Then tap Allow.

After logging in successfully, the App will remind you that Reolink Smart Home has been successfully linked. Tap Next to go to the next step.

6. Alexa will look for devices to connect, and cameras that have enabled the smart home feature in the Reolink App will be detected. Tap Next to complete.

7. Choose the device to set up and customize some settings for the camera, such as adding it to a group or SKIP to finish the setup. Then you will see the camera on the Devices page of the Alexa App.

Note: If the cameras are added to a Reolink Home Hub, separate entities for each device (camera, doorbell, etc.) will be detected and appear.

Step 3. Live view on Alexa

On Alexa App

1. Tap the camera on the Devices page of the Alexa App, and then you will go to the live view page if the camera supports live view via the Alexa App.

2. Tap the Speaker button, you can hear the audio from the camera. For Reolink video doorbells, you can also enable the Mic for two-way talk.

Note: Make sure the audio recording is enabled on the Reolink software. Refer to How to Enable Audio for Recording and Live Viewing via Reolink Software

On Alexa Device

If you have already added the Alexa device(the Echo Spot or Echo Show) to the Alexa App, the camera added to the Alexa App will be connected to the Alexa device automatically and then you can tap on the screen to find and live view the camera or just say “Alexa, show [name of the camera]" to view the live stream, and say "Alexa, stop [name of the camera]" to stop the live stream.

If you can not call out the camera with the voice command, you may change the camera name and try again. Front Door or Backyard Camera or names like these will be great. How to Change Camera Name via Reolink App

For video doorbells, enable the "Mic" button on the Alexa device and then you can use the two-way talk while live viewing.
