This article guides you on how to position the Reolink battery-powered camera to get the best performance on the PIR motion detection and reduce the false alerts.
Finding Reolink battery-powered cam's Optimal Motion Zone
The field of view of Reolink battery-powered camera is diagonal 130° and the PIR directing angel is horizontal 120°, please make sure the monitoring area is well within its field of view.
Our PIR motion sensor is more sensitive to side-to-side movement than movement heading straight toward the camera or away from the detecting field (horizontal 120˚) of the PIR motion sensor.
Common Errors
A common error is mounting the camera too high, and aiming it too low.
The camera works great at about 2-3 meters above ground level with the motion sensor parallel to the ground. From this height, the camera can cover a wide visual area, as well as capture HD video of visitors' faces.
When the camera is mounted too low, it reduces your Optimal Motion Zone. It can work if you're only looking to detect motion in a very small area, but more often than not results in not detecting approaching visitors or capturing the top of heads when the sensors are triggered.
Don't be afraid to mount the camera high. It will capture clear video of visitors' faces and cover a wide visual area. You'll be more likely to capture the events you want to know about and be notified as soon as they happen.
