Camera Data Usage and Key Factors
Live view Consumption: The camera's data usage primarily depends on the live view, with the bitrate and video resolution settings directly affecting the amount of data consumed. Higher settings lead to more data usage.
-
Other Activities: In addition to live viewing, other functions such as push notifications, email alerts, recording playback, cloud uploads, and FTP uploads also consume data.
Text messages: A few hundred bytes per message.
Images: A few hundred KB per image.
Videos: Can use up to 2 MB per video.
Varying Usage: Since the frequency and duration of the live view vary, monthly data consumption will differ accordingly. Additionally, the actual data usage will depend on the specific features being used.
The table below summarizes how long different camera models can live view with 1GB of data at the default bitrate for the main and substreams, as well as the recommended monthly data under normal usage. Note: Data conversion may involve some degree of loss, and the values presented are approximate estimates.
