This is an introduction to the working mechanism of the Patrol function for Reolink cameras.

Applies to: Reolink RLC-423, RLC-423WS, RLC-523WA, RLC-823A, and RLC-823A 16X.

Note:  Reolink RLC-423 and RLC-423WS only can patrol in one direction--clockwise, while RLC-523WA, RLC-823A, and RLC-823A 16X will patrol in the shortest route.

In this article, we set presets 1-5 as shown in the picture below, and the original position of the camera, we name it as 0°.

In your mind, the camera should go to Preset 1 from 0° directly and then proceed to preset 2-5 on the way (shown as the arrows below).

For new models like RLC-523WA, RLC-823A, and RLC-823A 16X:

It will move following the below-marked arrow in the shortest route. It will rotate from 0° -> preset 1 -> preset 2 -> preset 3 -> preset 4 -> preset 5.

For Reolink RLC-423, RLC-423WS:

As we said previously, the camera only moves in one direction-- clockwise, thus it will move from 0° to preset 1 in this way as shown below (pay attention to the arrows' direction).

Then move from preset 1 to preset 2.

Move from preset 2 to preset 3.

And then proceed preset 4 & 5.

Finally, if you don't stop patrolling, it will start the next routine from preset 5 to preset 1 and repeat the previous steps above.
