When setting up your Reolink devices, using the Add Devices Automatically function can significantly simplify the process. With this feature enabled, Reolink software (App, Client, or NVR) can automatically discover and list devices connected to the same local network. This guide will walk you through how it works, the limitations, and how to enable it across different platforms.

1. About Add Devices Automatically (Auto Add) 

The Add Devices Automatically feature allows Reolink software to automatically detect devices that are on the same local network (LAN) as your smartphone, computer, or NVR. Once detected, devices will appear in the software’s device list.

Important notes:
1. The Reolink devices must be connected to the same router as your phone/computer/NVR.

2. Being detected doesn't mean you can access the device directly—you still need to enter the correct username and password to log in.

2. How to Enable Add Devices Automatically (Auto Add)

Please refer to the following methods to find and enable the Add Devices Automatically option.

  • Via Reolink App

    Here is a video for your reference:

    Please launch the Reolink App (update to the latest version). Tap Me > Settings > Add Devices Automatically.

    Tap and make the toggle blue to enable the Add Devices Automatically option.

  • Via Reolink Client

    Here is a video of enabling/disabling Add Device Automatically via Reolink Client.

    Step 1. Launch your Reolink Client, and click the gear icon in the top right corner to go to the Client Settings page.

    Step 2. Go to System Settings and click the Add Device Automatically toggle to enable/disable it.

  • Via Reolink NVR (new UI)

    Applies to: RLN8-410 (hardware version H3MB18/N2MB02/N3MB01/N7MB01), RLN16-410 (hardware version H3MB18/N6MB01), RLN36 and RLN12W.

    Step 1. Launch your monitor of your NVR, and click the gear icon to go to the Settings page of the NVR.

    Step 2. Go to Channel, you may find the Auto Add button, click to enable (turn it blue)/disable (turn it gray) Auto Add ( Add Devices Automatically) according to your need.

    Note: Once the Auto add option is enabled, all devices in the same local network with the default username (admin) and default password (no password/empty) will show up automatically.

    If a camera has been previously configured with a password, you will see an "Incorrect account name or password" error. And you just need to click the Modify button to enter the right camera information (user name/password).

  • Via Reolink NVR (Old UI)

    Applies to: RLN4-410 (hardware version H3MB17), RLN8-410 (hardware version H3MB02), RLN8-410-E, RLN16-410 (hardware version H3MB02/H3MB06)

    Step 1. Launch your monitor of your NVR, and go to the Menu page.

    Step 2. Under IP channel, you can choose to enable/disable Auto Add by ticking Auto Add as picture below, then click Apply to confirm.
