Applies to: All Reolink battery-powered cameras

The expected batteries life is calculated through tests under controlled laboratory conditions. The actual batteries life may vary depending on configurations, battery models, and many other factors. There're several possible causes worth mentioning during the use of Reolink battery-powered cameras.

Cause 1Frequent PIR alarms

If you frequently hear the audio warning or find a lot of motion recordings in Playback, it indicates that the alarms are triggered too frequently.

Solutions: a. Reduce false alarm by choosing a suitable sensitivity for your PIR sensor or by mounting your battery-powered camera (or the PIR sensor) in places without frequent vehicles or passengers.

b. Set up proper motion detection schedule, which is to enable/disable the PIR sensor in specific time periods.

Note: The default sensitivity of Reolink battery-powered cameras is Mid

Cause 2. Frequent log-in and live-view

Solution: Avoiding logging in the camera too frequently. Only access the camera when necessary.

Cause 3. IR LEDs frequently turned on

Installing Reolink battery-powered cameras in dim or completely dark environments will make the infrared sensors to turn on IR-LEDs more frequently. When IR-LEDs are on, the camera will consume twice as much the energy as before, which will drain the battery life quickly.

Solution: Mount your cameras in well-lit areas.

Cause 4. Weak WiFi connection

Poor WiFi connection will make the cameras to consume more power in transmitting data, which will drain the battery quickly.

Solution:  Please installing the cameras near the router to ensure that there is a stable and strong WiFi connection between the router and the cameras.

Cause 5. Improper working environment

Reolink battery-powered cameras can properly function within the temperature of -10°C – +55°C (14°F – 131°F).

Solution: Please install the camera under a proper environment to extend their battery life.
