Applies to: All Reolink Cameras.

The image quality of previewing and recordings affected by some parameters on the camera. Users may change the settings in the Encode page.

 Encode Interface

Note: Normally, you only need to change the Resolution/Frame Rate/Maximum Bitrate.

Here are the brief introductions for these parameters:

  • Stream Type: Select different stream type (Clear and Fluent) to set the parameters.
  • Audio: Enable Audio to allow the camera to record audio in the selected stream type.

Note: The Audio can be enabled only for devices which support this function.

  • Resolution: Resolution refers to the number of pixels in an image. Resolution is sometimes identified by the width and height of the image as well as the total number of pixels in the image. The higher the resolution is, the better the image quality will be.
  • Frame Rate: (expressed in frames per second or fps) is the frequency (rate) at which consecutive images (frames) appear on a display. Frame rate describes the speed of recording. The more frames recorded per second, the more accurate the motions documented into the recording medium are.
  • Bitrate: Video bitrate is the number of bits that are processed in a unit of time. The bitrate control corresponds to video quality and file size. In general, the higher the bitrate is, the better the image and audio quality will be, and the bigger the file size will be.
  • H.264 Profile: Set the H.264 encoding standard, and it only needs to be changed when you meet troubles using other 3rd-party software.

You may set the encode settings using the following different methods:
