NVR is powerful, it can be a video storage station, a camera management tool and a local router.
NVR records continuous live image/video streams to a hard disk for 24/7 and users are able to playback the video later to check details. An alternative to PC/server-based recording, the NVR offers a less complex installation, is easier to set up and has a user-friendly interface for day-to-day use. As the NVR is solely designed for IP CCTV surveillance, the embedded operating system is optimized to handle the maximum number of cameras the unit supports. This means that you can be confident that the NVR will be reliable, stable and perform as intended, unlike a PC/server-based approach which has many variables that could affect performance.
After years of development, the IP cameras tend to offer a lot more features and come in various type and resolution. With an NVR, different types and resolution cameras can be managed in one device rather than login different interface to configure. If someone owns a few of cameras, an NVR is needed to works as a control center to navigate and configure camera parameters.
For example, on a Reolink PoE NVR you're allowed to connect Reolink PoE cameras and WiFi cameras and name each camera, make different recording schedule and alert types for each camera, create a guest account for people who might need to visit these cameras. People who access the camera with the guest account are not able to freely modify camera settings.
The NVR can create a Local Area Network for CCTV surveillance without the Internet. For some no Internet application environment, there is no need to access the device remotely, users just want to watch live viewing stream in local and record. An NVR can make this happen!
