Here we will guide you to configure the stream or quality settings for Reolink cameras.

Applies to: All Reolink cameras.

If you find that the image quality of your Reolink camera is poor, you can set up the stream/quality settings to improve the image quality.

The stream settings apply to the following six functions of Reolink cameras.

  • Live view
  • Playback
  • Email attachment
  • Download recordings
  • Recordings uploaded to the FTP
  • Recordings uploaded to the Cloud

There are four main options on the Stream/Quality page.

  1. Stream Type: You can change the stream type (Clear/Fluent) here to improve the image quality. Click The Difference Between Clear, Fluent, and Balanced to check the differences between Clear and Fluent stream types.
  2. Resolution: Resolution refers to the number of pixels in an image. Resolution is sometimes identified by the width and height of the image as well as the total number of pixels in the image. The higher the resolution is, the better the image quality will be.
  3. Frame Rate (FPS): Fps (expressed in frames per second or fps) is the frequency (rate) at which consecutive images (frames) appear on a display. Frame rate describes the speed of recording. The more frames recorded per second, the more accurate the motions documented in the recording medium are.
  4. Maximum Bitrate (kbps): Video bitrate is the number of bits that are processed in a unit of time. The bitrate control corresponds to video quality and file size. In general, the higher the bitrate is, the better the image and audio quality will be, and the bigger the file size will be.
  5. I-frame Interval: The number of frames between two consecutive I-frames (Intra-coded frames) in a video stream. I-frames are complete images that serve as reference points for other frame types. A shorter I-frame Interval leads to higher video quality and smoother playback, especially in fast-moving scenes, while a longer interval reduces file size but may impact clarity and fluidity. (This feature is not supported to be configuring on Reolink App, please check on the Website, Client, or NVR Monitor for this feature.)
