Calibration is an essential process that ensures your Reolink camera operates accurately and smoothly. This guide will help you understand what calibration means, how it behaves on different camera models, and when to perform this important task.
Applies to: E1 series cameras that support smart detection, TrackMix WiFi, TrackMix PoE, TrackMix Wired LTE, Reolink Go PT Ultra, GO Ranger PT, Argus PT Ultra, TrackMix, TrackMix LTE, TrackMix LTE Plus, Argus PT Lite, Argus Track.

1. What Is Calibration?
Calibration involves adjusting the pan and tilt (PT) functions of your Reolink camera, ensuring precise and smooth movement. This step is crucial for maintaining the effectiveness of your surveillance system and its ability to accurately position the camera.
2. Calibration Behaviors
Different camera models, due to hardware differences, have distinct calibration methods. Calibration is not simply a full rotation in all directions.
Calibration Process
The calibration process typically involves:
- The camera first moves to a fixed reference position (either the far left or far right), which is treated as the zero point.
- Then, the camera moves to the center position to complete horizontal calibration.
- Finally, the camera performs vertical calibration through up and down movements.
Model-Specific Calibration
Here are two examples of calibration performances for different models:
- TrackMix PoE: When calibration is initiated from any position, the camera pans all the way to the left (with the reference position being on the far left), then moves to the center position, and finally returns to the guard position.
- Go PT Ultra: It first pans all the way to the right (with the reference position being on the far right), then returns to the center position, and subsequently performs up and down movements for vertical calibration.
Note:
When calibrating your camera, it is normal for the camera not to make a full rotation in all directions. This does not indicate a malfunction.
3. When to Use Calibration
Calibration should be performed under the following circumstances:
-
Pre-set Points and Guard Position Drift:
- If the pre-set points or guard positions have shifted from their original settings.
-
Pan-Tilt Issues:
- If the PTZ camera is not moving smoothly or is not accurately positioning itself.
Calibration helps adjust the sensitivity and responsiveness of the Pan & Tilt controls, ensuring that your camera operates smoothly and accurately.
Calibration is a vital maintenance procedure for your Reolink camera.
