While using the official wireless chime for Reolink doorbells offers the best smart home experience, you can also integrate your existing indoor chimes for Reolink doorbells (both mechanical and digital) into your DIY security system. This guide will help you to identify the compatible wired chimes and walk through the correct setup procedures.

1. Doorbell Transformer Specifications for Compatibility

To ensure safe and effective operation, it's important to use a doorbell transformer that meets specific electrical requirements. For both mechanical and digital doorbells connected to the Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery), the transformer should have the following specifications:

Voltage: 8 to 24 VAC
Frequency: 50/60Hz
Current: 5VA to 40VA

Using a transformer within these ranges helps avoid power issues and ensures that your doorbell functions correctly. Refer to the diagram below to connect your doorbell, chime, and transformer.

2. Reolink Compatible Doorbell Chimes

If your mechanical or digital chime is incompatible or produces abnormal sounds, you can bypass the chime using a jumper cable.

Steps to Bypass the Chime

1. Select "None Chime" in the Settings:

When bypassing the doorbell, it’s crucial to update the settings in the Reolink App:

❶ Open the Reolink App and navigate to the Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery) camera's settings by tapping the gear icon.

❷ Go to Existing Chime Settings > Advanced > Chime Type, and choose None.

2. Wiring Methods:

Refer to the wiring diagrams where the blue lines indicate how to bypass the doorbell.

• Direct Connection: Connect the Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery) directly to the transformer.
• Bypassing One Chime: Connect the Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery) directly to the transformer while bypassing one chime.
• Bypassing Two Chimes: Connect the Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery) directly to the transformer while bypassing two chimes.
• Bypassing One Chime with Two Doorbells: Connect two Reolink Video Doorbells (Battery) to the transformer while bypassing one chime.

Note: Reolink provides black Jumper cables and Extension cables. The red wires in the diagrams are for illustration purposes only and do not indicate polarity. Please follow the wiring instructions carefully. The two jumper cables connected to the screws on the back of the video doorbell do not have a specific arrangement requirement. As long as the connections are made correctly, the order of the cables does not matter. Just ensure that the cables are securely attached to the screws for proper functionality.
