What is the Reolink Security Camera Frame Rate
Frame rate refers to the number of continuous frames a camera captures per second, measured in fps (frames per second). The frame rate setting affects the smoothness of the video.
In low-light conditions, such as during night vision, the camera will automatically reduce the frame rate to increase exposure time and ensure objects are recognizable. However, lower frame rates may result in motion blur or ghosting. To address this, Reolink offers the Frame Rate Mode feature to meet different scenario needs.
Reolink Frame Rate Mode has three modes:
- Auto: Use variable frame rate. Ensure clarity by adjusting the frame rate automatically (NOT suitable for fast-moving objects).
- Constant: Use a constant frame rate. Prioritize smoothness.
- Gradual: Gradual frame rate mode reduces the frame rate based on environmental brightness, lowering it to a minimum of 12 frames per second. If the environmental brightness is sufficient, the frame rate will not be reduced. When the frame rate is low, fast-moving objects can appear with significant motion blur.
Note: Some models don't have the Gradual option because they have been optimized. In these models, the functionality of Gradual is actually included within the Auto mode, so there's no need to worry about losing this feature. In the future, other models will also gradually transition to having only "Auto" and "Constant" options.
