When setting up a Reolink NVR, managing passwords for both cameras and the NVR itself is crucial for ensuring secure access and smooth operation. This article will introduce the functions of various passwords on the Reolink NVR.
Applies to: All Reolink NVRs.
Reolink NVR Login Password
The Reolink NVR login password is the password you created when initially configuring the NVR. Regardless of which software you use to log into the NVR, you will need to enter the NVR login password. After entering the Reolink NVR login password, you can check the cameras added to the NVR.
If you need to change the Reolink NVR login password, please refer to How to Reset Reolink NVR Recorder's Password (New UI)
Reolink NVR Lockscreen Password
The Reolink NVR lockscreen password is the same as the NVR login password, which is the password created during the initialization of the NVR. If you enable the Auto-Lock feature, an account username and password will be required for verification to unlock the screen and access the NVR.

NVR's User Account Password
In addition to the default admin account, you can also set up user accounts for the NVR. The username and password for the user account is used to log into the NVR.
With the admin account, you have the authority to change the user account password.

Login Password for the Connected Camera
If your camera has been configured before you add it to the Reolink NVR, you will need to enter the camera's login password on the NVR monitor (that is the monitor connected to the NVR with the HDMI/VGA cable) to add it to the NVR. Please refer to: How to Modify Camera's Password via Reolink NVR (New UI)
If your camera has not been configured previously and is directly connected to the NVR or added via LAN, a default password will be assigned, but it will be hidden. In this case, if you disconnect the camera and reconnect it to the NVR (old UI) or try to access the camera separately, a password error will be displayed. You need to create the login password for the camera on the NVR (new UI) monitor.
Note: When a camera and NVR are on the same local network (not necessarily directly connected), and the Auto Add function on the NVR is enabled, the camera that is not initialized will be immediately detected by the NVR and assigned a random password as long as it is powered on.
