Motion Track feature shows the complete movement trajectory of detected targets on an image, keeping you informed of any activity. Follow the instructions below to configure Motion Track on Reolink cameras via Reolink software.

Applies to: Argus 4, Duo 2, Duo 2 LTE, Duo 2 WiFi, Duo 3 WiFi, Duo 2 PoE, Duo 2V PoE, Duo 3 PoE, Duo 3V PoE.

Motion track offers two separate export options: Email export and App export, which operate independently and do not affect each other. Please refer to the following table to know more about Motion Track feature.

Note: When the camera is connected to the NVR,

  1. To export motion tracking images via email, configuration must be done on the monitor connected to the NVR via HDMI/VGA cable.

  2. App does not support exporting motion track.

Email Export Motion Track

  • Via Reolink App

    Step 1. Set up the email alert and the schedule with smart detection types enabled: How to Set up Email Alerts via Reolink App

    Step 2. Go to Email Alerts, and tap Image Setting.

    Step 3. Enable Motion Track, and the motion track of the target will be displayed in the image.
    If you want to see the timestamps of every motion, enable Motion Timestamp.

    Once the setup is completed, when the camera detects a Person/Vehicle/Animal, it will email you with an image showing the trajectory of the moving object.

  • Via Reolink NVR (new UI)

    Applies to: RLN8-410 (hardware version N7MB01), RLN16-410 (hardware version N6MB01), RLN36 and RLN12W.

    Step 1. Log in to your camera on the NVR monitor, and click the Settings gear icon on the Preview page.

    Step 2. Set up the email alert and the schedule with smart detection types enabled: How to Set up E-mail for Reolink Products

    Note: Make sure email alert settings are configured properly and you can receive the test email.

    Step 3. Go to Camera > Detection > Motion Track.

    Step 4. Enable Send Motion Track Image. Then click OK.

    Step 5. The motion track of the target will be displayed in the image. And the switch for Motion Timestamp will be automatically turned on. If you don't want to see the timestamps of every motion, you can disable (turn it black) it.

    Once the setup is completed, when the camera detects a Person/Vehicle/Animal, it will email you with an image showing the trajectory of the moving object.

App Export Motion Track

  • Via Reolink App

    Step 1. Go to the live view page and tap Playback button.

    Step 2. Select a video clip and switch to the Clear mode. Then tap the tap the icon icon.

    Notes:

    1. Make sure to switch to Clear mode, otherwise you won't be able to see the motion track export button in the top right corner.

    2. If the video clip you selected does not have smart detection, you will not be able to export the motion track image. (Shown as the right image).

    3. You can select playback clip of up to 5 minutes in length for export as motion track image. The duration of motion track image exports depends on the length of the selected clip, internet speed, and the number of people exporting at the same time, typically taking 5-6 minutes.

    Step 3. The switch for Motion Timestamp (display the time when the target moves on the image) will be automatically turned on. If you don't want to see the timestamps of every motion, you can disable (turn it grey) it. Tap Generate and it will start generating a motion track image.

    Please make sure you stay on this page, otherwise, if you exit and come back later, the download will be interrupted. When you tap Retry, the download will start over.

    Step 4. Done! When you see the prompt below, it means the motion track image has been generated. Then you can view the motion track image in the local album.
