D500/B500 is an add-on camera that is recommended to connect to a Reolink PoE NVR. To better learn the working principle and settings of the camera, here are some instructions for your reference, including

  1. Smart Person & Vehicle Detection
  2. Detection Zone & Privacy Mask
  3. Object Size

Smart Person & Vehicle Detection

Based on traditional Motion Detection, Smart Detection has optimized the algorithms and technology to massively reduce false alarms and filter Persons and Vehicles from all movements.

Note: Only D500/B500 with hardware version IPC_5158M8M_V2 support Smart Person & Vehicle Detection. (About how to find the hardware version of your camera, please refer to How to Find out System Information via Reolink PoE NVR or How to Find out System Information via Reolink PoE NVR ( New UI)

You can set it up via the Reolink App, Reolink Client, or a monitor.

  • On Reolink App

    1. Please open your Reolink APP > Device settings > Camera Recording/Email alerts/Push Notification > Schedule > Choose Person/Vehicle/Others
For example, if you only need to receive a push when a person is detected, please only choose Person here and do not choose Vehicle and Others.

  • On Reolink Client

    1. Please launch your Reolink client > Device settingsSurveillance > Record.
    2. Please click the detection type and then choose the time & date for detection.
For example, if you need the camera to record only when a person is detected, please only click Person and unclick Vehicle and Others

  • On the Monitor

    1. Please Go to Survellience >Record/Email Schedule
      Monitor_AI_0.jpg
    2. Please click the detection type and then choose the Time & Date for detection.
For example, if you need the camera to record only when a person is detected, please only click Person and unclick Vehicle and Others

Detection Zone & Privacy Mask

This part will guide you to distinguish the detection zone from the privacy mask and help you to set a detection zone or privacy mask.

Differences

Detection Zone: This function is used to reduce the false alarm. If you paint a non-detection area, the movements in the non-detection area will not trigger the camera to record or send a push, but the pictures in the non-detection area will still appear on the previewing page. The detection zone will not influence the previewing pictures

Privacy Mask: This function is used to protect others' privacy in case some areas are not allowed to be monitored. You can add at most 3 privacy masks. Our privacy mask is a rectangle and you can not customize its shape. The privacy mask will influence the previewing pictures.

  • Set Up a Detection Zone

    1. The following video will guide you to set up a detection zone via both the App (from the beginning) and the Client (from 2:15)
    2. Note: The grey part is the non-detection area

  • Set Up a Privacy Mask

    1. On the Reolink App:
Please open the Reolink App > Device Settings > Display > Privacy Mask
      Privacy_mask_App.jpg
After settings up, the pictures covered by the privacy mask can not be previewed anymore.

    2. On the Reolink Client:
Please open the Reolink client > Device settings > Display > Privacy Mask
      Privacy_Mask_ckient.png
After settings up, the pictures covered by the privacy mask can not be previewed anymore.
    3. On the NVR monitor:
Please go to Cameras >Display >Privacy Mask Settings
      Monitor_privacy_mask_0.jpg
      monitor_privacy_mask.jpg

Object Size

Object Size is used to reduce false alarms.

The movements smaller than the minimum size will not be collected. Vice versa, the movements larger than the maximum size will not be collected as well.

You can set it up via both the App and the Client.

  • On Reolink App

    1. Please open your Reolink APP > Device settings > Alarm Settings > Objective Size
      objective_Aize_App.jpg
Note: the movements larger than the blue rectangle will not trigger the alarm. The movements smaller than the orange rectangle will not trigger the alarm.
  • On Reolink Client

    1. Please open your Client > Device settings > Alarm Settings > Object Size
      Objective_size_client.png
Note: the movements larger than the blue rectangle will not trigger an alarm. The movements smaller than the orange rectangle will not trigger the alarm.
  • On the NVR Monitor

    1. Please go to Cameras > Detection > Objective Size
      Monitor_objective_size_1.jpg
      Monitor_objective_size_2.jpg
For more details, please refer to How to Set up Object Size via Reolink NVRs (New UI).
Note: If you create an object size for Person Detection, this will not act on Vehicles.
