2. Preparation for Recording Configuration
Whether a battery-powered camera supports smart detection determines whether it has the option to configure a recording schedule. So, how should different models be set up to ensure the camera successfully records to the SD card?

Battery-powered cameras with smart detection: Need to configure the recording schedule.

Battery-powered cameras without smart detection: Simply enable the recording switch to start recording.

These cameras support recording schedule settings, and you need to configure the appropriate recording schedule.
*Part 1: Motion Recording Settings

Via Reolink App
Step 1. Go to Device Setting > Camera Recording > Motion Recording Schedule page.
Step 2. Tap Detection Type and enable the Detection Types you want to choose. Usually, there are four types: Person, Vehicle, Animal and Others. Tap bar of one day to set up a schedule when you want the camera to save motion recordings and tap Copy To to apply the settings to other days. Blue indicates enabled, while gray indicates disabled.
Please note that the Detection Type is different for some models, like the Keen Ranger PT, battery doorbell etc. Below is an example using the Keen Ranger PT, as it is characterized by detecting animals:
Step 3. Wait a moment after configuring, as the camera packaging recordings needs a while. You may not see the recording immediately after configuration. You can check if the camera has started recording as configured on the Playback page. Select the date and click the time on the timeline to view the recording.

Via Reolink Client
Step 1. Log in to the camera and go to Device Settings > Surveillance > Record.
Step 2. Make sure the Enable Record button is turned on, and then click Schedule.
Step 3. Select the Detection Type you want the camera to record when motion is detected.
Step 4. Click Enable or Disable, then click the grids to customize the recording schedule. One grid means one hour. After that, click Save to save your configurations.
Note: Blue indicates enabled, while grey indicates disabled.
You can also use Enable All/Disable All to achieve a quick configuration.
Tap Enable all to activate all grids, which means the motion recording for the camera will be enabled at all times. You can adjust the schedule using the tools Enable or Disable.
Tap Disable all to deactivate all grids, which means the motion recording for the camera will be disabled at all times. You can adjust the schedule using the tools Enable or Disable.
Step 5. Wait a moment after configuring, as the camera packaging recordings needs a while. You may not see the recording immediately after configuration. You can check if the camera has started recording as configured on the Playback page. Select the date and click the time on the timeline to view the recording.

Via Reolink NVR (New UI)
Step 1. Launch your NVR. Right-click and click the gear icon to go to the device settings page.
Step 2. Go to Surveillance page. Toggle the Record button to turn on it (be in blue), and then click Daily Schedule.
Step 3. Select the camera and enable its record button. Click Alarm and select the detection types you want to enable. Then, click Enable to choose the recording times on the timetable, or select Disable to set periods when you don’t want the camera to record.
Notes:
1. An Alarm schedule records only when triggered by motion, while a Timer schedule records continuously.
2. If you'd like the recording schedule for the selected camera/channel to be applied to other cameras/channels, click Apply to Other Cameras and select the wanted camera. It's fairly convenient.
After you finish recording schedule settings, click Save to save the camera recording schedule.

*Part 2: Continuous Recording Settings
For cameras which support continuous recording, the interface may be slightly different. Please click the software you use for further instructions.

Via Reolink App
Step 1. Launch your Reolink App and log in to your camera, then go to Device settings > Camera Recording > Continuous Recording Schedule.
Step 2. Tap the bar for a specific day to set up a schedule. Then, tap and scroll to select the grids, and choose Enable or Disable for that period. You can also copy the settings to other days by tapping the option at the bottom of the page. Remember to tap Save after configuring.
Note: Blue indicates enabled, while gray indicates disabled.
Step 3. Wait a moment after configuring, as the camera packaging recordings needs a while. You may not see the recording immediately after configuration. Check if the camera has started recording as configured on the Playback page. Select the date and click the time on the timeline to view the recording.

Via Reolink Client
Step 1. Log in to the camera and go to Device Settings > Surveillance > Record.
Step 2. Make sure the Enable Record button is turned on, and then click Schedule.
Step 3. Click the Timer button to set up the continuous recording schedule. Select Enable or Disable, then click and hold to scroll through the table and select the desired time grids. Finally, click Save to apply your settings.
Notes:
The blue grid indicates that the camera will record, while the grey grid means no recording will occur.You can also use Enable All/Disable All to achieve a quick configuration.
Tap Enable all to enable all grids, meaning the camera will record continuously at all times. You can adjust the time schedule using the tools Enable or Disable.

Applies to: RLN8-410 (hardware version N7MB01), RLN16-410 (hardware version N6MB01), RLN36 with latest firmware v3.5.1.
Step 1. Launch your NVR. Right-click and click the gear icon to go to the device settings page.
Step 2. Go to Surveillance page. Toggle the Record button to turn on it (be in blue), and then click Daily Schedule.
Step 3. Select the camera and enable its record button. Click Timer, then click Enable to choose the recording times on the timetable, or select Disable to set periods when you don’t want the camera to record.
Notes:
1. Regardless of your settings, the NVR will always show the Alarm schedule first when you enter the Schedule page. This does not affect your schedule settings.
2. If you'd like the recording schedule for the selected camera/channel to be applied to other cameras/channels, click Apply to Other Cameras and select the wanted camera. It's fairly convenient.

Note: These cameras do not have a record schedule setting. Simply enable the Record button and ensure that the PIR settings are correctly configured.
