Object size is an effective way to reduce false alarms. If the moving objects are smaller than the minimum object size or bigger than the maximum object size, it will not trigger the alarm to reduce the false alarm caused by spider webs, light changes, and raindrops. This section will present the ways to set up object sizes for your Reolink cameras. 

Applies to: Reolink cameras that support smart detection.

  • Via Reolink App

    Here is a video for your reference.

    Step 1. Launch Reolink App and log in to the camera, tap the settings iconicon on the top right to go to the device settings page.

    Step 2. Tap Detection Alarm > Object Size.

    Step 3. Tap to choose a detection object (person/vehicle/Animal, vary according to different camera models).

    Step 4.     Tap Minimum Object or Maximum Object. Use your finger to zoom in or out on the yellow or blue frame on the screen to adjust the size you want to set. You can only set up a minimum size or a maximum size, or set up them both at the same time. If you draw both of them, make sure the blue frame is bigger than the yellow one.

    Step 5. Tap the Trash Can icon if you want to delete the object size settings. Tap Save to save the settings.

    Step 6. Choose other detection objects to set the object size for it.

    Note: For Dual-lens series, object size is set for two lenses (Camera 1/Camera 2) together, and cannot be set separately.

  • Via Reolink Client

    Step 1. Login to your device and then go to Device Settings > Motion Detection > Object Size and click the button to configure for the person/vehicle/pet detection(vary according to different camera models).

    Step 2. Click the icon at the bottom and draw the size you want. It doesn't matter where you place the object size. You can only set up a minimum size or a maximum size, or set up them both at the same time. If you draw both of them, make sure the green rectangle is bigger than the yellow one. 

    Click the corresponding Trash Can icon if you want to delete the object size settings. Don't forget to click Save to save your configuration and

  • Via Reolink Web browser

    Step 1. Make sure your PC is connected to the same router as your camera.

    Input the IP Address of your camera on a web browser and log in to your camera.

    Step 2. Click the Device Settings gear icon on the top right corner.

    Step 3. Go to the Camera > Alarm Settings page. Scroll down to find the Object Size.

    Click Set Up beside the alarm type you want to configure (Person/Vehicle/Pet; vary according to different camera models).

    Step 4. Draw the minimum size or maximum size for such alarm type. Take Person for example:

    Click the minimum size icon below to turn it yellow, then click one of the angles and drag to adjust the size of the yellow rectangle. A moving person smaller than the yellow rectangle will not trigger the alarm.

    Click the maximum size icon below to turn it green, then click one of the angles and drag to adjust the size of the green rectangle. A moving person larger than the green rectangle will not trigger the alarm.

    Notes: 

    1. You can only set up a minimum size or a maximum size, or set up them both at the same time. If you draw both of them, make sure the green rectangle is bigger than the yellow one. 
    2. You can click the Trash Can icon to delete the unwanted minimum/Maximum rectangle.
    3. Don't forget to click Save if you have finished setting.

  • Via Reolink NVR (new UI)

    Applies to: RLN8-410 (hardware version H3MB18/N2MB02/N3MB01/N7MB01), RLN16-410 (hardware version H3MB18/N6MB01), RLN36 and RLN12W.

    Step 1. Log in to your camera on the NVR monitor and enter the previewing page of your camera. Then click the Settings icon on the screen.

    Step 2. Go to Camera > Detection. Click the blue Object Size on this page.

    Step 3. Create Minimum and Maximum sizes for detection objects.

    • Click the object type. You could set up object size for Person/Vehicle/Pet separately. The object type may differ according to different camera models.
    • Minimum Size: Click the mceclip icon (turn it blue), then left-click your mouse and drag to draw the minimum object size (the yellow rectangle).
    • Maximum Size: Click the mceclip icon (turn it blue), then left-click and drag your mouse to create the maximum object size (the blue rectangle). Please note that the maximum size must be larger than the minimum one.
    • Delete: Click the Trash Can icon to delete the drawn maximum/minimum object size. Then you can redraw them.

    For example, in the pictures above, a person whose size is between yellow and blue rectangles will trigger the alarm. 

    Note: It's not compulsory to set up maximum and minimum object sizes at the same time. It is your choice to draw one of them or both based on your needs.
