If you have no idea about how to install your Reolink Doorbell WiFi, please refer to the following steps.
There could be two ways of power supply for your doorbell camera:
- Use a power adapter to supply power for your doorbell camera
- Use the existing doorbell wiring to supply power for your doorbell camera
You can choose any one of these two installation methods accordingly.
Use a Power Adapter
Step 1. Prepare to Install
Put the power adapter near the door and set up the cables. Do not plug the adapter into the power socket at this point.
Note: If you use a network cable for the camera's network connection, then you also need a network cable of appropriate length as well. Attach one end of the network cable to the router.
Step 2. Find a Place for Your Doorbell
Find a proper place for your doorbell. Do not include walls in the camera view. The walls will reflect infrared light and may cause a blurry image.
Choose a proper height for your doorbell. You are recommended to install the camera 1.2m (48'') high off the ground to get an ideal camera view.
Step 3. Use the Wedge
Check the camera view to see whether the wedge should be used to adjust the field of view. Use the wedge if a person standing in front of your door is near the edge of the camera's field of view.
Step 4. Find the Place to Drill Holes
Put the mounting hole template on the wall and find the place to drill holes as shown.
Note: The places of drilling differ when you use or don't use the wedge.
Step 5. Install the Wedge
Fix the wedge to the wall. If the wall is soft, screw the wedge to the wall directly. If the wall is hard, insert drywall anchors first. Drill a hole through the wall in the hollow part of the wedge to run the network cable.
Step 6. Install the Mounting Plate
Screw the mounting plate into the wedge.
Step 7. Wire up the Video Doorbell
Connect the power cable to the video doorbell.
Make sure the Y-shaped plugs are separate from each other.
Note: If you choose a network cable connection, don't forget to run the network cable through the wall and connect it to the video doorbell as shown below.
Step 8. Fix Video Doorbell to Mounting Plate
Following the two steps above to fix the video doorbell.
Step 9. Finish
Press the doorbell button and check whether the doorbell and chime can ring. Check the live view on your phone.
Use the Existing Doorbell Wiring
Step 1. Find the Existing Doorbell and Chime
Check whether the existing doorbell system functions well. If not, you need to contact a qualified electrician or use a power adapter instead.
Note: If you use a network cable for the camera's network connection, then you also need a network cable of appropriate length as well. Attach one end of the network cable to the router.
Step 2. Turn off the Power to Doorbell
Power off the existing doorbell under the guidance of a qualified electrician. Press the doorbell button again and make sure the chime doesn't ring.
Note: For your safety, please read the following Warning.
Step 3. Check the Voltage of the Existing Chime
Remove the cover of the existing chime, and use a voltmeter to verify whether the existing doorbell wiring is applicable to the video doorbell (supporting a voltage of 12-24V AC).
If not, you need to bypass the existing chime.
Step 4. Remove the Existing Doorbell
Put back the cover of the existing chime after checking the voltage.
1. Uninstall the old doorbell button;
2. Use the extension wires to extend the original wires for the new doorbell;
3. Use the provided wires connectors to connect the wires.
Step 5. Use the Wedge
Check the camera view to see whether the wedge should be used to adjust the field of view. Use the wedge if a person standing in front of your door is near the edge of the camera's field of view.
Step 6. Find the Place to Drill Holes
Put the mounting hole template on the wall and find the place to drill holes as shown.
Note: The places of drilling differ when you use or don't use the wedge.
Step 7. Install the Wedge
Fix the wedge to the wall. If the wall is soft, screw the wedge to the wall directly. If the wall is hard, insert drywall anchors first. Drill a hole through the wall in the hollow part of the wedge to run the network cable.
Step 8. Install the Mounting Plate
Screw the mounting plate into the wedge.
Step 9. Wire up the Video Doorbell
Connect the power cable to the video doorbell.
Make sure the Y-shaped plugs are separate from each other.
Note: If you choose a network cable connection, don't forget to run the network cable through the wall and connect it to the video doorbell as shown below.
Step 10. Restore Power
Check whether the video doorbell is installed properly. If so, restore the power.
Step 11. Fix Video Doorbell to Mounting Plate
Following the two steps above to fix the video doorbell.
Step 12. Finish
