1. Important Notice about Reolink Doorbell and Chime Compatibility
Reolink Doorbell comes in three versions (V1, V2, and V3), while Reolink Chime is available in two versions (V1 and V2), each offering distinct functionalities. Please note the key compatibility points between Reolink Doorbells and Chimes:
1. Version Compatibility:
- Video Doorbell PoE/WiFi (plug-in): The V1 doorbell is compatible only with the V1 Chime, whereas V2 and V3 Doorbells are compatible with V2 Chime. These combinations are not interchangeable.
- Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery): Compatible only with the V2 Chime.
2. Doorbell Connection Restriction: V1 Doorbells support connection to a single Chime, whereas V2 and V3 models and Battery Doorbell can pair with multiple Chimes, up to a maximum of five.
3. Chime Connection Restriction: Each Chime can only be paired with one doorbell at a time, meaning multiple doorbells cannot share the same chime.
4. Exclusive Compatibility:
- Reolink Chimes can only be used with Reolink Video Doorbell cameras, and vice versa.
- However, the Battery Doorbell model supports additional wired chimes as specified in Reolink Doorbell Battery Compatible Wired Chime Types.
5. Pre-Paired Sets: Doorbells that come with a Chime are pre-paired at the factory. If you purchase a Reolink Chime separately, you will need to perform the pairing process yourself by following the instructions provided. Note that Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery) does not come with a Reolink Chime, which needs to be purchased separately.
2. Identifying Your Reolink Chime Version
To determine your Chime's version, examine the hardware label on the device. Take the picture below as an example,
- A labeled V2 indicates the second version.
- If no version is indicated, it is a V1 Chime.
This information is critical for ensuring proper setup and configuration.
3. Understanding the Reolink Chime Buttons
Each side button on the Reolink Chime serves a distinct function:
-
Settings Button for Pairing:
- The first button symbolized by a Gear icon.
- Used for pairing the Chime with the doorbell camera.
Note: The doorbell and chime are pre-paired by default; after initial setup, just plug in the chime and it's ready to use. For re-pairing, refer to How to Pair Reolink Doorbell with Chime (Doorbell PoE/WiFi) & How to Connect Reolink Video Doorbell (Battery) to a Chime.
-
Audio Button for Ringtone Selection:
- The second button symbolized by a Musical Note Icon.
- It allows users to cycle through ten different preloaded ringtones. Each press changes the selected ringtone, enabling you to choose one that best suits your preferences.
-
Volume Button for Volume Adjustment & Resetting:
- The third one symbolized by a Speaker icon.
- It allows users to adjust the chime's volume across five levels: Mute, Low, Moderate, Loud, and Very Loud.
- Pressing it cycles through these levels. Pressing the button will increase the volume level sequentially until it reaches "Very Loud." Continuing to press the button will then decrease the volume back down to "Mute."
- When the volume is set to "Low" or "Very Loud," the chime emits two beeps as confirmation. If the volume is set to "Mute," only an LED flash will indicate the setting.
Note: The Volume Button can also reset the Chime. Refer to How to Reset Reolink Chime for details.
