  • Does the NVR support the Person/Vehicle detection of my Reolink cameras?

Yes. RLN36 supports the camera's smart person/vehicle detection.

  • How to expand the NVR storage capacity?

RLN36 supports three internal HDDs, the single HDD capacity is up to 16TB, in total up to 48 TB. For more information, you could refer to How to Expand the Capacity of Reolink NVRs and How Many HDDs Can I Connect with Reolink NVR System.

  • Can I connect WiFi cameras to the NVR when it is already connected to 36 PoE cameras?

No, RLN36 supports Max. 36 cameras (no matter WiFi or PoE). You cannot add any more cameras if it is already occupied by 36 ones.
The video channels of an NVR limit the number of cameras it supports. RLN36 has 36 channels and hence supports 36 cameras (excluding dual-lens cameras).
Please note that a Reolink duo-lens camera occupies two video channels.

  • How to connect NVR to PoE cameras?

You can connect the NVR to a router via its LAN port, and to PoE switches via its video-in Ethernet ports. Then up to 36 cameras can be connected to the NVR via the PoE switches. The most suggested connecting configuration is as follows:

    Note:
    1. By adding PoE switches, you will not expand the number of cameras supported by the NVR, since its video channels are immutable.
    2. To protect your PoE switch(es) from overloading, distribute your cameras/PoE switches evenly to the four Internet ports if possible.

  • Can I connect the NVR to the router wirelessly?

No, the NVR has to connect to the router via an ethernet cable.

  • Can I connect third-party cameras to the Reolink NVR?

It's not suggested to do so. Compatibility issues can occur with third-party cameras. Please contact Reolink Support team if you have any concerns about protocols.
