This article explains how to configure the recording schedule for videos stored on a microSD card or HDD using the Reolink Client. You can customize when the camera records based on your recording needs.

Applies to: All Reolink products with a microSD card or HDD slot.

Before You Start

Reolink supports both Event-Triggered Recording and Continuous Recording features. Depending on your camera model, these recording schedules may be displayed differently in the Reolink Client.

  • All Reolink cameras support Event-Triggered Recording Schedule. On cameras or NVR that support Smart Detection, you can configure the schedule for different detection types. If your camera or NVR doesn't support Smart Detection, the detection types are not available, and the schedule can only be configured for Motion Detection when you set the Event Triggered schedule. Follow Which Camera Supports Smart Detection and Which NVR Supports Smart Detection to check the compatibility.

  • Continuous Recording is supported on most Reolink PoE and plug-in cameras, as well as some battery-powered cameras. If Continuous Recording is not available on your camera, your camera may not support continuous recording. For detailed compatibility information about Event-Triggered Recording and Continuous Recording, refer to Introduction to Alarm Recording and Timer Recording.

It is divided into two sections: cameras with Smart Detection and cameras without Smart Detection. Choose the option that matches your camera. To set up the recording schedule smoothly, make sure the microSD card is installed inside the camera or Home Hub.

Option A: For Cameras that Support Smart Detection

These cameras support Event Triggered Recording Schedule and Continuous (within schedule) Recording Schedule. Event Triggered recordings can also be configured by detection type, such as Any motion, Person, Vehicle, Pet/Animal, Package, and so on, depending on your camera model.

Option B: For Cameras that Do Not Support Smart Detection

Cameras without Smart Detection do not support smart event recording, such as Person, Vehicle, Animal, Package Recording, e.t.c.

  • PoE and plug-in cameras without Smart Detection support Motion-triggered Recording and Continuous Recording.
  • Battery-powered cameras without Smart Detection do not provide recording schedule settings. Simply enable Camera Recording to record the events.
