As outdoor security systems are increasingly deployed in remote and off-grid locations, maintaining a stable power supply has become more challenging. The Reolink Solar Panel 2S is designed to address these needs by combining efficient solar charging with built-in energy storage for greater reliability. This article introduces the Reolink Solar Panel 2S, including its concept, key features, specifications, and compatible cameras.

Applies to: All Reolink battery-powered cameras except Reolink Argus, Keen, and Reolink Doorbell (Battery)

What is Reolink Solar Panel 2S

The Reolink Solar Panel 2S is an upgraded solar power solution featuring a high-efficiency panel combined with a built-in 5900mAh battery, allowing it to store energy and provide continuous and stable power to the camera, even in low-light conditions, at night, or in low-temperature environments. The built-in battery unit charges itself at as low a temperature as -10°C, then it can directly supply power to the camera, instead of charging camera.

Compared with other Reolink solar panels (such as Solar Panel/Solar Panel 2/Solar Panel 3), the key difference is its integrated battery and enhanced low-temperature performance, enabling extended operation time and improved reliability in weak sunlight or cold weather conditions.

The Reolink Solar Panel 2S provides several key advantages:

Stable Power Supply in Sunlight:
Under sunlight conditions, the solar panel first charges the built-in battery while the built-in battery continuously supplies power to the camera (when the camera battery is not fully charged), helping deliver more stable and consistent power output.

Continuous Power Supply in Low-Light or Nighttime Conditions:
When sunlight is unavailable, such as during nighttime or short periods of cloudy weather, the built-in battery (if it has remaining power) can continue charging the camera, helping prevent temporary power interruptions.

Improved Performance in Low-Temperature Environments (≤0°C):
In low-temperature environments, the built-in battery (if it has remaining power) can bypass the camera battery and directly power the camera. This helps avoid charging caused by reduced battery charging efficiency in cold weather.

Direct Power Supply for Cameras Using AA Batteries:
When used with cameras that have AA batteries installed internally, the Solar Panel 2S can bypass the camera battery and directly power the camera under sufficient sunlight and stored energy conditions, reducing reliance on disposable batteries.

Appearance of Reolink Solar Panel 2S

The Reolink Solar Panel 2S consists of a solar panel, a mounting bracket, a built-in battery, a status button, an LED indicator, and a charging port, forming a complete and integrated solar power solution for Reolink battery-powered cameras.

The LED indicator provides a clear view of the battery and charging status. To check the current battery level, press the status button once, and the LED indicator will display the remaining power.

The LED behavior varies depending on the working status, including the following scenarios:

LED Indicators – Charging
When the solar panel battery is charged via a power adapter or solar panel, the indicator displays the battery level as follows:

In addition to the specifications above, when using the Solar Panel 2S with a camera, its behavior under different temperatures:

The operating temperature is -20℃~+58℃ (-4℉~136.4℉), referring to the temperature range in which the built-in battery of the Solar Panel 2S powers the camera.
The recharging temperature is -10℃~+58℃ (14°F~136.4℉), referring to the temperature range in which the solar panel charges its built-in battery via solar energy.

For example, when the current temperature is 0°C ~ +58℃ (21°F~136.4℉), the built-in battery of the Solar Panel 2S will charge the camera. You may notice the camera’s battery level increasing in the Reolink App/Client.

When the current temperature is 0°C ~ -20℃ (21°F~-4℉), the built-in battery of the Solar Panel 2S (if it has remaining power) will directly power the camera instead of charging it. In this case, the camera’s battery level will remain unchanged in the Reolink App/Client.

Compatible Cameras for Reolink Solar Panel 2S

The Reolink Solar Panel 2S (6W) is designed for Reolink battery-powered cameras with a compatible power interface. It supports most Reolink battery cameras, providing a reliable and continuous power supply under sufficient sunlight.
Note: Before installation, please ensure your camera model is supported and uses a matching charging port. (If the ports do not match, use a USB-C to Micro USB cable.)

The Reolink Solar Panel 2S helps maintain stable camera operation by providing continuous power in outdoor environments. To achieve the best performance, ensure proper installation and placement. For step-by-step installation guidance, see How to Install Reolink Solar Panel 2S.
